GOP Congressman Will Plead Guilty in Insider-Trading Case

Rep. Christopher Collins, a Republican from New York, is pleading guilty to insider trading.
The congressman was charged last year with trading on non-public information about Innate Immunotherapeutics Ltd., an Australian biotechnology company. He was arrested in August 2018 along with his son, Cameron Collins, and Stephen Zarsky, the father of Camerons fiancee. All have pleaded not guilty.

(1,660 posts)I wonder what happens now? Does Collins lose his seat in Congress? If so, there'd have to be a special election to fill it...same as what happened with Louise Slaughter's seat.

(4,787 posts)House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) received a letter of resignation from Collins on Monday, a senior Democratic aide said. The resignation will be effective when the letter is officially filed at a scheduled House session Tuesday.
