GOP Congressman Will Plead Guilty in Insider-Trading Case

Rep. Christopher Collins, a Republican from New York, is pleading guilty to insider trading.

The congressman was charged last year with trading on non-public information about Innate Immunotherapeutics Ltd., an Australian biotechnology company. He was arrested in August 2018 along with his son, Cameron Collins, and Stephen Zarsky, the father of Cameron’s fiancee. All have pleaded not guilty.

I wonder what happens now? Does Collins lose his seat in Congress? If so, there'd have to be a special election to fill it...same as what happened with Louise Slaughter's seat.

15. Per WaPo, Speaker Pelosi received a resignation letter from Collins today. He pleads tomorrow..

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) received a letter of resignation from Collins on Monday, a senior Democratic aide said. The resignation will be effective when the letter is officially filed at a scheduled House session Tuesday.

...here is some more information from Wikepedia:

.....Christopher Carl Collins is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New York's 27th congressional district since 2013. Collins was the first sitting U.S. Representative to endorse Donald Trump for President of the United States, and he served on Trump's presidential transition team.
