Source: Politico
Bernie Sanders experienced chest discomfort during a campaign event on Tuesday and had two stents inserted to address a blockage in an artery, his campaign announced.
Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days," senior adviser Jeff Weaver said in a statement. "We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates.

(24,396 posts)not only for Sen Sanders, but for all of the older candidates, including tRump. This puts health of the individual candidates on the front burner. It will impact the older candidates directly as the are they too old? question will now come to the fore.
Sorry to write the above, but the history of candidates with health issues being able to overcome the negatives of their condition has not been good in this country.

Age may be a legitimate concern, but using such a broad brush is *historically* wrong.

Heck, jfk publicly lied about having addisons. The media didn't call him out.

You really think comparing life expediencies of now with the early 1900s is valid?

(32,046 posts)We need to nominate someone who is not social security plus age. Our modern successful candidates have all been relatively young. Obama, Clinton, Carter, Kennedy. LBJ was not elected into the office.
Polybius
(15,462 posts)It's not fair that only Republicans get to nominate the elderly. Since 1980, they've nominated Reagan, Bush I, Dole, Bush II, McCain, and Trump. Only Bush II was young.
We've only nominated one person over 62 since 1980, Hillary. It's not really fair, we need to run more good seniors. Either way, we're going it in 2020. It's either gonna be Biden, Warren, or Sanders.

You'll of course support that conclusion with objective data or relevant historical evidence leading specifically to your allegation, yes?

Good health to you, Senator.

I was wandering around Lyndonville about twenty years back and noticed a Free Spaghetti supper with Bernie sign tacked to a telephone pole. What a great time. Bernie made a short speech then asked what was on everyones mind....a typical Bernie get together. I enjoyed listening to farmers, loggers, business owners, veterans, single Moms, carpenters, even several youngsters. Real grassroots.
Get well, Bernie.
