Senate Republicans block two election security bills

Source: The Hill

Senate Republicans on Tuesday blocked legislation that would provide funding for states to shore up election security and create more transparency around online advertisements.

Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.) blocked passage of the Honest Ads Act, sponsored by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), saying work was needed to make the measure more bipartisan.

Klobuchar's bill, whose lone GOP cosponsor is Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), would require online platforms to make "all reasonable efforts" to ensure foreign entities are not buying political ads. It also would require public disclosure of who paid for the ad.

"There are many other bills that I'll come back and discuss in the next few weeks which would help on foreign influence in our elections, but today I want to focus on this one because election security is national security, and it's well past time we take action," Klobuchar said on the Senate floor.

They must cheat, it is in the GOP DNA. Old, white men are dying out and the librul minorities are the up and coming new majority.

Its akin to treason.

People, including me, scream too much that Democrats must do more to get the word out on any given R treasonous act. What we really need are new networks that give a fuck about truth and their own country. Stop framing everyting about how this will affect D or R chances in being elected. Or looking for any angle you can to find fault in Democrats actions so you can have on an R guest to badmouth them too.....just to balance things out.

When one party, who was elected a sweeping majority of all branches, with help from a foreign agent, is actively blocking efforts to prevent a repeat of that interference, what do you call that? "All enemies foreign and domestic" Why is that so hard to understand? The GOP are acting like domestic enemies and actively subverting democracy. It shouldn't be up to Democrats to get themselves invited onto news programs to raise this issue. You'd think that it would be shocking and important enough that it makes the front page without the need to have on a Democrat, and of course also a Republican to shout over them, on at the same time to make it all "fair".
