Measure introduced in Ohio would ban abortion outright

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A group of conservative lawmakers in Ohio has introduced a bill to outlaw abortion outright except to save the pregnant woman’s life.

State Rep. Candice Keller, a Republican from Middletown, says the bill’s backers are tired of taking an incremental approach to ending abortion.

“The time for regulating evil and compromise is over,” she said in a statement. “The time has come to abolish abortion in its entirety and recognize that each individual has the inviolable and inalienable Right to Life.”

The legislation, introduced Thursday, declares a fetus a person and would subject doctors who terminate pregnancies to potential murder charges.

Gym Jacketoff Jordan and many other Ohio reps are the best argument abortion should be free, legal and sometimes even mandated, even after birth.

free...yes, legal...yes, mandated...no. It is completely the choice of the woman.

I much prefer no cost, abortion on demand and a cash for vasectomies scheme.

but you know very few men will take that route. They believe all birth control is a woman's responsibility, some even want to outlaw that.

A true hardcore pro-lifer shouldn't give a rat's ass about a woman's life. Stop compromising. Candice Keller sounds like a real piece of work.

This, of course, only affects the Ohio women in poverty. The reasonably well-off can find a reason to scoot to Ann Arbor or Toronto for a "little shopping trip". The poor can try coke bottles or coat hangers -- instructions are probably on YouTube.

This Bozo will continue to contribute to Planned Parenthood.

6. Ohio seems to be...

It seems that Ohio is becoming an example of a state going backwards in many ways and their state motto should be: "Going backwards for a change!"

It should be obvious that "conservative" (a misnomer these days) lawmakers are a death knell for those they say the represent these days. It is being demonstrated again and again. As they jump on the wedge issues they love they will talk about freedom and wrench a woman's rights concerning her body away simply by politicizing a fetish for fetuses that ends at birth. I would emphasize here that once you at parturition, the entire perspective changes since they tend to not show the same respect for children, adults or elders.

It is my sense that these backward states will only tend to bleed their populations more and more and fall into a deeper state of despair and decay as time goes on. It is a bad idea to vote for that. One of the reasons that the backwards states will fail miserably is that there is a very powerful digital wave, a fourth industrial revolution, that is simply going to render much of their world view and behaviors obsolete and they have demonstrated, (thankfully for us) their inability to adapt to change. Be it for good or bad, change is no longer going to be an option, but a way of life and adaptation, information and various dynamics are not, in my opinion, are not compatible with "conservatives" and their chicanery.

Ohio, if you continue on this route, well, rest in peace because your state is going down the tubes in that case.

Such laws contravene the US Constitution’s prohibition against the state establishment of religion, which is exactly what this is. These people are a minority. Pew Research has a report from this past August, in which they say “Currently, 61% say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 38% say it should be illegal in all or most cases.”

The tail is trying to wag the dog here. The pro-choice people need to be more publicly vocal—not Planned Parenthood, they’ve been too tarnished by the right wing. I’d like some women’s healthcare group to air ads showing women in real-life situations and why they are choosing abortion, such as an ectopic pregnancy or the pregnant woman diagnosed with cancer who must choose between abortion or dying or the poor working mother whose fetus is severely compromised with brain and physical disorders that means she will not be able to work to care for her other children if she continues the pregnancy. Women have many valid reasons for choosing abortion, including just not wanting a child, and they need to be shown in a positive light—not the baby killers portrayed by the religious right.

and outlaw sex outside of marriage, period. Because THAT is what it is all about. SEX.

And the sex BETTER be with your OWN spouse.

And while we are shoving religious bigotry down EVERYONE'S throat, only one spouse allowed per person. Otherwise it is adultery, and adulterers can no longer have sex. You know, the sanctity of marriage, and all... I don't remember the argument being made for the sanctity of 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 marriages.

Let's see the men all line up in support of THAT!

I am not using the sarcasm tag on purpose.

Run a moderate Democrat or a liberal Republican against those that support the all out ban.
