Michael Avenatti 'living in El Chapo cell'

Source: BBC

Lawyer Michael Avenatti is being held in a Manhattan prison cell which once housed Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, his legal team claims.

Mr Avenatti is charged with attempting to extort millions of dollars from Nike. He has pleaded not guilty.

His lawyers are now demanding that he be transferred from the high security cell to a normal one ahead of his trial which could start next week.

He served as lawyer for adult film star Stormy Daniels.

He exposed the Stormy Daniels payoff and the Pecker payoff to the national consciousness.

If you don't think that put him at the top of Trump's hit list, you're naïve. Holding him in El Chapo's cell, when he's not a flight risk, is not a coincidence.

The knives have been out for a while now.

You'd better make sure you have no skeletons in your own closet.

This whole story is sad more than anything. I guess firstly for the folks he ripped off. But also because we lost a powerful truth-to-power attack dog. Yeah yeah, he's a bad boy, and has to pay the piper. But its just our luck. Because he was not only a powerful, succinct anti-Trump voice, but an outside the party voice. He didn't speak for the Democratic party. So his admonishments were listened to more. Its no wonder he was probably near the #1 position of people they had to take down. Al Franken was maybe #!.
