Michael Avenatti 'living in El Chapo cell'

Lawyer Michael Avenatti is being held in a Manhattan prison cell which once housed Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, his legal team claims.

Mr Avenatti is charged with attempting to extort millions of dollars from Nike. He has pleaded not guilty.

His lawyers are now demanding that he be transferred from the high security cell to a normal one ahead of his trial which could start next week.

He served as lawyer for adult film star Stormy Daniels.

This whole story is sad more than anything. I guess firstly for the folks he ripped off. But also because we lost a powerful truth-to-power attack dog.
