William Barr tells people he might quit over Trump tweets

Source: LA Times

Atty. Gen. William Barr has told people close to him that he’s considering quitting his post after President Trump wouldn’t heed his warning to stop tweeting about Justice Department cases, an administration official told the Associated Press.

The revelation came days after Barr took a public swipe at the president, saying in a television interview that Trump’s tweets about Justice Department cases and staffers made it “impossible” for him to do his job. The next day, Trump ignored Barr’s request and insisted that he has the “legal right” to intervene in criminal cases and sidestep the Justice Department’s historical independence.

He has never been there to protect Trump the person.

He arrived to protect the Imperial Presidency, the Republican " aristocracy" and the secrets of the. Reagan and Bush administrations.

With those secrets safe and victories they have racked up in three years of Trump he is of little concern to them.

writing a lengthy letter, praising tRump and declaring that presidents have no limits. Barr thinks presidents (unless they are democratic presidents) are above all laws. tRump liked that, so now he is declaring himself the chief law enforcement officer. Thanks, Billy Low Barr. tRump is correct this time, he IS the chief law enforcement officer, since Barr is not doing his job.

is because la merde is really starting to hit the fan now and he realizes he's been busted—big time. The gig is up, and he knows it. More and more people are getting more and more vocal, calling for his resignation and impeachment and even imprisonment. I think he's going to resign and try to pull a Lev-and-Igor maneuver and buy a one-way ticket to some country that no one can extradite him from. Sorry, Bill Barr. You can hide, but you can't run. He's too compromised from everything he's involved in to do this, and its all another act from bill barr. He's no AG for the American people. He's a compromised puppet for trump and putin to use now, with no where to do but down for his crimes, and just a matter of time before barr's looking at consequences . I'd bet he's not sleeping much from worry. He knows whats coming along with rudy , justice, then they'll b pleading for mercy when they get sentenced.

Are hurting Barr's ability to eff with our federal courts on Trump's behalf. My guess is this is a last-ditch effort to get Trump to stop. Trump will have a hard time finding a replacement to continue Barr's blatantly illegal maneuvers.

My guess is Trump is unable to control his own behavior. The tweets will continue. We'll see if Barr will make good on his threat to quit.

64. Another thing to consider
Wed Feb 19, 2020, 09:34 PM
Feb 2020

We all know that people in his administration don't last all that long. Trump has some psychological need to pick fights that he can win. So, he often fires people after just a short while.

It looks very bad when four prosecutors quit all at once (almost.) It looks bad when 1100 former government attorneys take the time to pen a damning letter against both Trump AND Barr. Now, attorneys are beginning to demand Barr's resignation. They don't like the interference and they don't like a federal judge being negatively tweeted about and pressured. And, I think that Barr setting up a private, direct route for Giuliani to report to Barr himself looks very, very bad, especially when the talk is that Giuliani is in even more trouble.

So, now it seems that Barr isn't just defending Trump, but Barr is having to at least notice that legal professionals are now calling him out to resign. It appears that Trump and Barr are at odds in some way, and I think that all this recent pressure is really troubling Barr. That's not to say that I disagree with those that say that Barr will never quit. He strikes me as a lowly guy who suddenly rose to immense power, and won't give it up.

But, I think that Barr is in jeopardy of being FIRED by Trump, for some perception by the mentally ill Trump that Barr has failed (and also because, you know, it's time to kick one of Trump's friends to the curb.) Barr may be setting up an outside excuse for not being able to do whatever Trump wants him to do, so when he gets fired, it will not look like he did something wrong, but just a result of a nut job in the WH. I think this is a preemptive defensive strike. Especially when the public would like to see Barr impeached by the House. Bet he didn't count on that, ever.
