New Hampshire coronavirus patient broke quarantine to attend Dartmouth Business event

Source: The Hill

A coronavirus patient disregarded directions to remain quarantined and attended a Dartmouth Business School event in Vermont on Feb. 28, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services said Wednesday.

State epidemiologist Dr. Benjamin Chan said the unidentified man had recently traveled to Italy, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in Europe, and that a second man is believed to have contracted the virus from him, although it remains unclear if it was transmitted at the Dartmouth event.

“Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center has announced that the first person identified as a positive case is an employee. DHMC has identified staff who may have been exposed through close contact with the patient and will monitor those individuals’ self-monitoring or self-isolating,” the department added. “At this time, DHMC is not aware of exposure to any patients in clinical areas.”

Although there are no current cases who have tested positive for the virus in Vermont, health officials advised all attendees at the Feb. 28 event to self-quarantine for 14 days.

If someone is told to self quarantine and they do not, there should be serious legal repercussions.

If this guy was in North Korea, he would no longer be with us. And I believe Putin, is literally sending them to Siberia, they can't break quarantine there.

I expect this 14 day quarantine process in this country to have many cases such as this.

requires ankle bracelets. The technology exists. The understanding of human nature (last fling) is understood. This is a legal and public health matter.

anti-vaxxer conventions (for adults, not kids), megachurches in the bible belt,

Some of my younger coworkers joked it's a great time for young healthy people with strong immune systems to travel cheaply. See the world. Come home and visit elderly folks at the nursing homes of key swing states.

Kidding. Seriously just stay home or in quarantine. Listen to your doctors.

Stick the person in prison for a year.

I not exactly what one calls a big law and order person, but putting human life in jeopardy like this needs to be slammed hard and fast.

Not time to screw around.
