Tony Evers declares health emergency in Wisconsin as two new cases of coronavirus bring state total to eight

Gov. Tony Evers declared a public health emergency in Wisconsin and will use state resources to address the coronavirus outbreak.
MADISON - Gov. Tony Evers on Thursday declared a public health emergency in Wisconsin as seven people in the state test positive with the coronavirus, a serious disease that is expected to spread throughout the country.
Evers' announcement came just hours before two more cases of the virus were found in Dane County, bringing the total number of cases in the state to eight with one fully recovered.

Evers said he and First Lady Kathy Evers are no longer attending large events and will refrain from hugging or shaking hands with supporters or visitors as the virus spreads. He urged others to do the same.
"Wisconsin Nice is going to have a different look to it in the future," Evers said.
