Delta Will Cut Flying By 40%, Halt Europe Service And Ground 300 Airplanes

Source: Forbes

Delta Air Lines on Friday took the most dramatic steps of any airline so far to react to the coronavirus crisis, saying it will cut flying by 40%, “the largest capacity reduction in Delta’s history, including 2001,” CEO Ed Bastian said in a letter to employees.

Soon after the early afternoon announcement, Delta shares were up between 10% and 11%, trading at around $37.

Delta will halt all flying to continental Europe for the next 30 days, which could be extended, Bastian said. London service will continue.

From what I'm hearing, there will be no "over" for this disease. Like others, we can get them to be manageable but they'll rear their ugly heads from time to time. But next time, vaccines should be ready to control it.
