John Bessler, an attorney and professor at the University of Baltimore Law School, is hospitalized with pneumonia and tested positive this morning for COVID-19, Klobuchar said in a statement.

Here’s a statement from the Democratic senator from Minnesota Monday morning:

“I have news that many Americans are facing right now: my husband John has the coronavirus. We just got the test results at 7 a.m. this morning. While I cannot see him and he is of course cut off from all visitors, our daughter Abigail and I are constantly calling and texting and emailing. We love him very much and pray for his recovery. He is exhausted and sick but a very strong and resilient person.....................

My gawd. 😢. Coughing up blood not a good sign. But he’s not on a ventilator, which is good.

She is following medical protocol.


“While this is his story and not mine, I wanted to let my colleagues and constituents know that since John and I have been in different places for the last two weeks and I am outside the 14-day period for getting sick, my doctor has advised me to not get a test. As everyone is aware, there are test shortages for people who need them everywhere and I don’t qualify to get one under any standard.

But if she were tested it would mean she'd be suspected of having it and have to self-quarantine until the test results came back. That would reduce the (D) representation in the Senate.

While the incubation period is usually well under 14 days, cases where it was up to 23 have been reported.

There were over 25,000 tests done yesterday. 1/25,000 for one day isn't a big deal.

the virus doesn''t care what party you are for sure, i would not be surprised if 1/2 of the congress is next
