Court vacates Trump's rollback of school nutrition rules

NEW YORK (AP) — After making a brief comeback on school lunch menus, white bread and other refined grains may be vanishing again when schools reopen after a federal court vacated the Trump administration’s rollback of school nutrition standards.

The district court in Maryland said the administration did not give adequate public notice of the change, which had gone into effect for this past school year. The ruling was in response to a lawsuit brought by the Center for Science in the Public Interest and Healthy School Food Maryland and represented by Democracy Forward.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said it does not comment on ongoing litigation and it’s unknown how the agency will proceed. The agency oversees the national school lunch and breakfast programs, which serve millions of free and reduced-price meals daily.

For now, closed schools that have continued distributing meals during the coronavirus pandemic are operating under different standards and have been able to request flexibility on nutrition standards.

2. I hope future President Biden

is keeping a list of things that need to be put back into place. I say he should spend his first week signing Executive Orders (what lovely Karma!) to undo what mess he can of what will be left to him.

And what a hiring event there will be - talk about jobs! People will be happy to work for the government and lend their expertise to the benefit of our Country. I think we should all start to think about the GOOD that is coming. Today feels very very exciting - I can see a light at the end of this very long tunnel we have been traveling through.

Thoughts are things - you give them words, you give them wings!

We need to visualize this and all the good that will be coming I think Elizabeth Warren should have a spot - either Secretary of State or in a very powerful position to put some protections in place as well as investigations, on Wall Street insider trading, millionaires paying no taxes, wall street. She would be perfect for that job.

Who else can we envision in the new administration?

8. We all witnessed what happened with Obama

because of the Senate Republicon Majority. They obstructed every last thing.

I don't know why, every DEM is only focusing on Trump. He only exists because of the Republicon controlled Senate. Period. Without them he would be gone in a second.

We Dems are sorely missing ANY and ALL Democrat Leadership in the worst way.......The only leadership spectacular was Adam Schiff during the impeachment. He is probably way beyond worn out.

Pelosi has had her moments, but just a select few. Biden needs to be totally absorbed in trying to win the election against all the Republicon corruption and Putin help on the other side.........

The Republican Team has shown up and ready to play hardball. The Dems can barely even field a team....
As far as I can see there is no focus, no organization, no coordination, or much of anything coming from the DNC

10. Yes, but we now have President Obama

I hope, pray and feel strongly that he will be a mentor and adviser. I now have HOPE. President Obama and VP Biden brought us out of a depression in 2008 and so they saw what blockages were put in place, what games they played. Both of them were very aware of the planned and stated obstruction throughout their 2 terms of office. LESSONS LEARNED.

Who says that the Senate will be GOP majority in November? Not me - We may find that a major correction is going to take place. If we get what we oh-so-briefly had, the super-majority - we better take advantage of it this time.

They have shown their hands. The good thing about this current Residency is that they have been in our face with their corruption. They got so cocky that they stopped even trying to hide it. So, we will be on to their games. With Biden, Bernie, Nancy, Adam, etc. etc. - all of the VERY INTELLIGENT Democrats in key positions, we should be able to make a difference again.

What i don't want to see is everyone holding President Biden to an unrealistic time table to get things back to normal. The current resident has had almost 8 years to cause mass destruction, and he has put people in life long positions that have no business being there, but who can clog the system for a time to come - not to mention the Supremes (RBG please stay healthy!) We are not going to be able to get everything back to normal, or better, instantly. What people may have forgotten is that VP Biden controlled the money that turned the depression around. That is a big f'ing deal. We will have the Obama/Biden team together again, just not in the same roles.

President Obama may be even MORE effective outside the White House than he was inside. Bernie, the same - if he can pull VP Biden to the left a bit, and i think he will, we may really be able to get to a place where we can all breathe again. Its also about who we vote into office, from the smallest position in our local communities, to the highest positions in government.

Thank you for indulging me in my random thoughts. It's been awhile since my mind was able to be joyful when thinking about our Country and government, and our future as Americans. And I'm getting excited.
