Mia Love, Republican Mayor In Utah, Receives Photos Of KKK Member, Aborted Fetuses

Source: huffington post

Utah mayor and GOP congressional candidate Mia Love was sent an envelope containing racist and disturbing photos. The black, female Republican says she's become a target because she "poses a problem to the policies of the Obama administration."

The thick envelope arrived at Love's office in Saratoga Springs, Utah, City Manager Mark Christensen told the Deseret News. The envelope reportedly contained a photo showing Love, her husband and a hooded Klu Klux Klan member as well as pictures of aborted fetuses.

Love responded to the "divisive racially and negative racially" photos, saying "I want you to know, I want everyone to know I am comfortable in my skin. I'm comfortable and proud of my heritage..." the Deseret News reports.

The mayor is currently campaigning against Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson for Utah's 4th Congressional District seat.

Love, who could be the first black female Republican elected to Congress, told the Deseret News that she believes she's become a target because she "poses a problem to the policies of the Obama administration." "I knew that people would come after me," Love said. "I knew that people would try to change and distort information so I'm going to focus on things that are really important."

Back in August, Fox News reported that Love's Wikipedia page had been "vandalized" with racist and sexist epithets after she delivered her speech at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

She is under the impression that dem's are doing this? I thought her wanting to be a Republican in this day and age was delusional enough?

Just because a lot of Ts and some Republicans are racist doesn't make the whole party racist.

As much as we dislike the Republican party and especially its policies, it is best to confer on individual people some amount of respect until proven by facts otherwise. And then discuss the facts, not generate bogus assumptions. If as mayor she has taken actions you disapprove of then discuss that, rather than accuse her (the victim) of a criminal act (filing a false report).

You don't have a shred of evidence for your assertion. It is a common trick on the farther right wing sites to make similar assertions when Democratic supporters or party members get death threats or vandalism. I'm sorry to see that kind of behavior here.

Read the posts again. Your personal attack on the victim who received the mailings is what disgusts lots of people. It doesn't matter which party the black woman belongs to; the mailing she received has no place in America. But you immediately assume that because she is a Republican she must have mailed it to herself, with no evidence to back that up other than your blind hatred. Completely unrelated events that happened in the past are unrelated and are not evidence that that particular woman perpetrated a crime (filing a false report).

There are no "Rethug apologists" in this thread, but there are several people spouting vicious ugly hatred against that woman. And you can drop the personal attack "hate Americans" line against DU members because, again, that's all you got: name-calling, personal attacks and no facts. Those tactics are seen in grade school yards and should be left there.

There is no shortage of factual material with which to attack Republicans, so you don't have to invent bogus sources for the mailing.

Democrats are almost always better than Republicans in sticking to the facts and not making wild big lie assertions. Don't let your rage against the Republican party blind you.

For all you know, it could easily have been a far right racist who dislikes black politicians of any stripe. You don't know, and at this point there are no facts to point to a source. But that doesn't stop you from running off your mouth.

The thing that the Mayor should be criticized for is her leap to invoke Obama's name peripherally. But even she does not blame Obama. She blames unknown others who dislike her support of Obama.

Even though she is making unsupported inferences, she's exercising more self-restraint than you are in your thoughtless oneliner posts accusing a specific person (the victim) of a crime.

There is a shred of evidence. She had the ready answer, a complete explanation as to why some Democrat would do this, and she had it without any inquiry. Almost as though she created the character out of a stereotype. Her response is suspicious. She didn't start by saying she was insulted. No, she started by lauding the way she challenged the entire establishment! That's indicative enough to invite suspicion.

The difference is when right wing sites make these kinds of accusations, they're usually ignorant and idiotic on their face.

about this woman until today. I bet she knows who did the crime and it may just be orchestrated to build more support. At least that's my initial thought. A black female associated with the Tea Party? The recent GOP openly panders to racist and they are trying to suppress minority votes in swing states as I type this. These are not urban legends, which republicans are calling them, but facts. They also have a extreme party platform that outlaws abortion in all cases that takes away a woman's right to choose. She may be prolife herself but she should not make that choice for others. She is also a mormon (married one). I read that the mormons would not let blacks be priests until the late 70's due to doctrinal reasons.

A lot of hate for Obama from the right is not because of his policies, which are really somewhere in the center ,but because of his skin color and name. I wonder what the party she belongs to would think about her running for president someday?

Police investigate Obama supporter's missing sign, ominous message in anonymous letter

On Monday she placed a political sign supporting President Barack Obama on her lawn in the 1400 block of Clover Drive. The next day, the sign was gone.

Silva thought little of it until she opened her mail a few days later.

She found a letter — stamped with no return address — with a picture of a dismembered baby and the words “Obama: pro-death baby killer” marked in all caps across the bottom of the page, Silva and Amarillo police said.

I gather from Ms. Love's statement about Obama, she feels that he is a pro-death baby killer, so this was added to her resume because she is black like Obama?

I've argued with 'pro-life' racial bigots who favor blacks getting abortions because that fits in with their meme that all people of color are on welfare. It's only the white babies they want to preserve.

These SFBs really ought to figure out where they're coming from.
