CNNs Tapper drops the hammer on the GOP leadership for standing by while Trump becomes increasingly dangerous
Published 1 min ago on April 26, 2020
In his closing comments on CNNs State of the Union on Sunday morning, host Jake Tapper took Republicans and the GOP leadership in particular to task for standing idly by while Donald Trump bungles the coronavirus crisis, including suggesting dangerous solutions to treating victims of the virus.
...................
Were running out of words to describe this era, Tapper lectured. Republicans in Congress and in the Trump administration know that not only is the president failing to rise to this moment to, for example, get the nation on a path to widespread testing, the president is now making open ponderings about treatments that experts worry could actually harm people.

His anti-scientific musings have been dangerous, he continued. We saw this with his downplaying the virus. Two months ago today the president said he had done a good job since the U.S.. had only 15 cases, which would soon go down to almost zero. Then the president was pushing the use of hydroxychloroquine, what have you got to lose, he said? Well, the FDA on Friday issued a caution against the use of that drug outside of a hospital or a clinical trial due to the risk of heart rhythm problems...........
........
There is going to be a history of this era written and those who are pretending this irresponsibility is not happening, they will be remembered as villains, he concluded.

(9,426 posts)This presidency gig was going just great until those Jynese infected this country, completely by surprise. How was HE supposed to read the warnings, he was busy golfing and rallying. Besides, Jared told him it was no big deal. Now look, he has to pretend to care and do some actual WORK. If he had been warned that the rallies would come to a screeching halt if he did nothing, maybe something would have been started? Nah. He does not take this job seriously. He worries about his TV ratings beating "The Batchelor" and other shows. November can not get here soon enough. Hopefully the entire useless administration, plus many in the senate will be looking for employment elsewhere. President Biden will hire QUALIFIED, QUALITY people. The tRump family circus can leave. The Bidens need to take inventory of the silverware too.

(1,429 posts)1. The GOP has known from the beginning that Trump was dangerously ill equipped for the position. On Feb. 5th 2020 they missed their opportunity to dump him and save the Republican party. They didn't.
2. This has been a 40 year war for corporate control of the country. The GOP has won the battles BUT THEY ARE ABOUT TO LOSE THE WAR!

(139 posts)and claim to care about workers, children, women, the climate, postal workers, union members, farm hands and crop pickers, or the environment. The GOP has used race as a sharp poker to maintain power over this country while Democrats have been far too passive. No one wants to deprive white people of anything except the ability to suppress the rights and aspirations of everyone else that is not white. GOD is on our side.

(365 posts)It will be fun watching the scum on the right all turn against trump after he loses. While they are spineless cowards now, the race for tell all books on the market will be phenomenal. There is no honor amongst thieves and we will see that soon.

(13,776 posts)There are probably still a fair number of people who were born and raised Republican back when that wasn't a badge of shame, who are horrified at the behavior of this poo-flinging gibbon but don't feel as though they could bring themselves to vote for a Democratic nominee. But they could satisfy themselves, and maybe even think of it as restoring the reputation of the party, by voting for a sane Republican--even knowing he wouldn't win.
Maybe the same thing could apply to some of the swing-district Republican voters who think their party has totally abdicated their responsibilities but don't want to vote for Democratic representatives,.
Catch2.2
(629 posts)I've been saying this for a while. As much as the Dems need to attack Trump, the pressure really needs to be put on the Republicans. They have gotten a free pass this whole time. Dems need to take over the Senate, they can help accomplish this by putting pressure on the Rethugs by calling them out!
