Trump to meet with Joint Chiefs at Camp David
Source: The Hill
President Trump said Friday that he would meet the Joint Chiefs of Staff at Camp David this weekend.
I am going to Camp David, a meeting, big meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Trump said during an interview on Fox & Friends in response to a question about how he planned to spend Mothers Day. Camp David is this very special place that nobody ever gets to see but its a great work environment.
Trump didnt elaborate on the subject matter of his meetings with military officials, but said they would be discussing different things. The visit would mark Trump's second weekend in a row spent at the country retreat in Maryland.
Were going to have meetings on different things. Our military has never looked better, Trump said. Weve never had the kind of equipment that we have now.

Vice President Mike Pence has also resumed regular travel and will visit Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday to host a discussion with faith leaders about opening houses of worship amid the pandemic and meet with agricultural and food supply leaders.

(70,504 posts)Me I could go cross country skiing, then take a dip into the pool, and then sit by a
campfire on the stone patio or by the fireplace inside one of the cabins.
I have heard that Trump and w Bush never really liked it but other Presidents
loved it. The place is class as were FDR and Ike who helped to build it.
But not to worry Trump is gonna have a meeting a big meeting there. The man
is a loon.

I'd like to walk through those woods. There probably are streams flowing through those woods, too. Very scenic and gorgeous in spring.
"Loon" is being polite.

(175,735 posts)Yes, the one of Obama with a super-soaker and playing with his daughters is so far away from Spanky's attitude towards Barron. The difference is night and day.

The Obama daughters are high achievers and we'll likely hear a lot about them in their eventual careers.

So the wives of the joint Chiefs have to forget Mother's Day, so the orange toddler can rant and rave about Jyna?

(1,979 posts)he is now going to get on a plane with a completely different bunch of government workers, take them to another location and potentially - if he was infected - spread the virus far and wide. Rather than do the right thing, which would be to quarantine for 14 days after being exposed to someone who tested positive, as per his own rules, and have a Zoom meeting - like everyone else is who is trying to keep this virus from spreading.
Good to know we have such intelligent leadership at the top (sarcasm).

(2,173 posts)Is 45 getting ready for a purge of the military? I hate to seem like I am wearing a tin foil hat, but is he planning on a coup when he loses the election? This was tried when Roosevelt was president.

(1,242 posts)I understand that when Nixon was facing impeachment, the military was preparing to enforce congressional will vs the president. I don't think he would be planning a purge, but wants desperately to go into the election as a wartime president. The president can issue whatever orders he wishes, but those generals know there will be a change in command soon and will refuse to do anything stupid that they will have to answer for less than a year from now. Having said that, I think the president wants to deploy the military to prepare for civil unrest over the summer. While people need to rely on that their odds of being safe are better to stay home, but when household money runs out, either congress pays out or people have to find a way to feed their families. The 1% in this country would rather dump milk and allow food to rot than give it to families. The 1% doesn't want to pay out without labor production. If he forces people leave their homes in mass, he will use the military to create more theater.
Also, he has been dying for a 4th of July parade. He got his flyovers last week, which were not covered in the media as controversial, so my best guess is that one of those many topics will include military parades either limited to Washington DC or coming to an area near many of us. Those crowds provide rallying points for those likely to be in his base.

(2,173 posts)You are so right, his ego is so fragile he needs people to praise him. My brother-in-law had a very small dealing with him many years ago in New York, and said he was like that even back then. Again, it was just a mall issue.
Also, I agree his rallies will again start, health consequences be damned,
