Only 1 in 4 Americans see Donald Trump as a man of faith
Source: Politico
As President Donald Trump leans on religion to reconnect with his political base ahead of the November election, most Americans dismiss the notion that he himself is a man of faith.
Only 27 percent of registered voters in a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll said they somewhat or strongly agree that Trump himself is religious, while 55 percent somewhat or strongly disagree. Among subgroups, just over a third of all Christians view the president as religious (50 percent do not), while 23 percent of Catholics and 18 percent of independents see him that way.
Evangelicals were more likely to view Trump as religious: 40 percent said they agreed that he is, while 33 percent disagreed.
Ideological conservatives and Republicans were the only demographics in which a majority of respondents characterized the president as religious 55 percent and 60 percent, respectively.

(14,173 posts)I can even see, although only because I think they are brainwashed by their religious cult, how many fundie Christians have convinced themselves that Trump is the new "King Cyrus". Not a Christian himself, but being used by God to further Christian goals.
But how do 25% of Americans actually see any kind of religious person there. Baffling.

(31 posts)My mom moved from the First Baptist Church into Assembly of God,
because she is a psycho and found the Baptists not conservative enough.
That church accepts her delusion that she id a "prophet" and has the power of discernment.
Me? I practice Buddhism and neither of my brothers attends any church at all.

(1,685 posts)It is painfully obvious that Trump has no religious beliefs beyond himself.
That being said, there are too many idiots in the electorate that think the president must be a believer and a believer of a certain sect/denomination. Such is bullshit. The president nor any holder of office can be a believer or not. If he/she is a believer in the Flying Spaghetti Monster that is fine as long as they do not try to push dogma into law.
Sorry, this religious/believer crap is annoying. Rant over.
