House Republican leaders condemn GOP candidate who made racist videos

Source: Politico

The House’s highest-ranking Republicans are racing to distance themselves from a leading GOP congressional candidate in Georgia after POLITICO uncovered hours of Facebook videos in which she expresses racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic views.

The candidate, Marjorie Taylor Greene, suggested that Muslims do not belong in government; thinks black people “are held slaves to the Democratic Party”; called George Soros, a Jewish Democratic megadonor, a Nazi; and said she would feel “proud” to see a Confederate monument if she were black because it symbolizes progress made since the Civil War.

Greene finished first in a primary for a deep-red, northwest Georgia seat last week by a nearly two-to-one margin over the second-place candidate. She is entering an August runoff as the heavy favorite to secure the Republican nomination for a district where that is tantamount to winning the general election in November. Her initial victory — which has sparked panic in GOP circles — comes as Republicans are grappling with a national reckoning over racial inequality and police brutality after George Floyd, an unarmed black man, was killed by a Minneapolis police officer last month.

Republicans had just felt relief after they finally ousted Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), a controversial member with a long history of making racially charged remarks, in a primary earlier this month.

Right now, they have successfully turned their party into the party of racists and subservient cult members. They will lose more supporters by publicly criticizing and distancing themselves from racist candidates, than they would embracing them.

requirement to be a member is to do crap like this, disparage all ethic groups, mock the disabled, kick the meek back down to the ground, rip off or steal the money from grandma's meager 401K savings (if any left anymore after the market collapse), mouth off at any and all reasonable attempts to regulate any industry suspected of polluting our natural resources, froth at the mouth at any attempt of taxing the 1%ers, deny that the CV exists or that there are only a few cases, etc., deny health care to 10s of millions of people for the hell of it, without any replacement plan lined up.

The list goes on and on, it seems forever, on what one needs to be to be a republican. I suspect with trump, the only criteria to be an American or a republican is to own at least $100K of stock, minimum.

Funny thing about it though, not one of the policies advocated by the republican party (and its donors) would ever help the rank and file members of the republican party. Maybe one day, they will wake up. Pathetic.

Her Facebook page is a total cesspool of wingnut screeds and conspiracy theory BS. She's quite the piece of work, and absolutely crazy enough to win in that rural Georgia district.

The rest of the GOP hides behind buzz words like"pro-ife" and "local control". In the end it's all about the money. They love their very rich donors who probably are atheists like the Kochs and not concerned with race but are willing to use race and religion to destroy democracy as we knew it.
