Tulsa mayor imposes curfew ahead of Trump's rally

Source: USA Today

The Oklahoma Supreme Court is expected to rule Friday whether those attending Saturday's campaign rally for President Donald Trump in Tulsa must adhere to federal guidelines for face masks and social distancing.

A court referee heard arguments over the phone Thursday and will make a recommendation to the justices, who are scheduled to discuss the case Friday afternoon. The referee is not expected to disclose his recommendation.

A Tulsa attorney filed a lawsuit this week to stop BOK Center management from hosting the rally "to protect against a substantial, imminent and deadly risk to the community."

The petition cites a rise in documented cases of COVID-19 in Tulsa County and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Curfew imposed ahead of rally

The mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, imposed a curfew ahead of President Donald Trump's campaign rally there, prompting officers to move out supporters who had been camping out in front of the arena.

The curfew of parts of the city's downtown started at 10 p.m. Thursday and is in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday. It begins again at the conclusion of Trump's rally and continues into Sunday morning.

“Big crowds and lines already forming in Tulsa,” Trump tweeted Friday morning, hours after the curfew went into effect.

Rally starts at 7 pm. I would think his supporters would still be in the area after 10 pm. I guess we will find out if they are treated the same as protesters.

That is just they want. I bet there will be people whose main function is causing trouble. I have many friends going to protest, I fear for their health and safety.

doing everything he can to promote violence, against Americans. Some of those right-wingers arrested at the protest in Minneapolis...and elsewhere, have been outed as belonging to far-right groups, and were armed to the teeth. The ones I read about were caught via photo's from someone's phone, or in the act. No whodunnit police work involved. Funny that those stories just go away.

1918 and thousands caught the "Spanish" flu.

Trump will have 19,000 in arena and 40,000 on a field next door, so outbreak won't be to the same scale, but it'll happen.

The majority of city officials, who approved the decision against public health advice, did not live to see the aftermath.

A comparison between the two as examples of what to do and what not to do.

I highly recommend the podcast "This Podcast Will Kill You" which is very well researched and highly listenable. The hosts are both microbiologists and each episode thoroughly discusses a different communicable disease or condition caused by exposure to toxic or inflammatory substances. The first program was about the Spanish Flu. They have talked about rabies, polio, measles, chickenpox, cholera, the importance of vaccinations, etc.

At the very beginning of the Corona pandemic, they did an overview which mostly explained what Corona viruses are, the diseases they cause and symptoms of the infection from this particular strain. A few weeks later they began a series of more detailed discussions; I think they are up to 10 of those.

Trump's people need a reason to engage in violence. It is most convenient for them to start it themselves and then blame those anti-faw folks.

I'm all out of flying fucks for these fools. I hope millions of them fly to Tulsa, scream, yell and cough all over each other. I have far more concern for the stewards, clerks and other essential workers that will have to deal with the incoming cesspool of ignorance. I say let them have their self-destructive Free Dumbs.
It will be interesting to see if Trump himself is distanced or otherwise sealed away from this pending disaster.
