Poll: Trump Disapproval Hits All-Time High And He Trails Biden By 8

Source: NPR

By DOMENICO MONTANARO

After weeks of protests against police brutality and racism, and amid a renewed spike in coronavirus cases, the number of voters disapproving of the job President Trump is doing is at an all-time high, a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds.

Trump's approval rating sits at just 40% overall, while a record 58% disapprove.

What's more, a whopping 49% of voters "strongly disapprove" of the job Trump is doing. That kind of intensity of disapproval is a record never before seen for this president or any past one.

In the general election matchup, former Vice President Joe Biden leads Trump by 8 percentage points, 52% to 44%. That's a considerable margin, and it's especially important that Biden is above — not just reaching — 50%.

But it's not as wide a lead for Biden as other surveys have found recently. And it's not dissimilar to what the NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll found earlier this month. Then, Biden led 50% to Trump's 43%.

I don't want to be a downer. I also do not want to assume he's going to lose. There is a lot of time between now and Nov. 3rd and there are a lot of people who are not as engaged as people on this site.

There are far too many people who are more concerned with how many likes and friends they have on FB than with the election.

It will be an uphill battle all the way.

Just look at what people are willing to do to one another so get theirs. I have a son and a grandson who have good construction jobs. Nice houses, cars, and don't want for anything. They will both vote for trump because they have theirs. Those are the type of people I worry about in the election. I know it is wrong to want things to not go well, but I really do not want to see our economy turn around before the election. I know a lot of people will be hurt, but a lot more people will be hurt if trump is reelected. I guess I'm not as nice a person as I used to think I was.

13. Exactly. Even though I expect Biden to win, Trump will get a disheartening percentage of the vote

Over 40% of the country are and still will be willing to vote for him. That is frightening to me.

10. Ignore the polls. They mean nothing. Remember the polls of 2016.

11. Systemic Error

It should be noted that there was a systemic error in this poll -- none of the 127,362 people killed by Trump's coronavirus malfeasance were included due to technical difficulties in collecting their responses.

Far too many stories of life long republicans who will vote for Biden this time in order to get Trump out.
Yes, it will be a one time vote for many, but Trump will be gone. He may leave sooner. Nothing he can do will change this. If Trump does change radically, most people will say, "It is for the election only."

14. They also hated him before the 2016 election, but it appears most of them voted for him anyway.

November is a long ways away, politically speaking.
