Pence To Mark "Freedom Sunday" At Dallas Church As Texas Halts Reopening

Source: Newsweek

On Sunday, Vice President Mike Pence, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and U.S. Housing Secretary Ben Carson will attend "Celebrate Freedom Sunday," a large in-person event at the First Baptist Dallas megachurch located near the city's arts district.

Pence's visit at the church will occur just three days after Abbott placed the state's reopening plan on hold after a massive outbreak of COVID-19 cases statewide. As of Friday, Texas ranks fifth among U.S. states with the highest number of coronavirus cases.

Texas was listed as one of several "hot spot" states that Pence will tour in order to get "ground reports" on the ongoing epidemic, according to comments made in Friday's briefing by the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

The Sunday church event will feature a fireworks celebration, patriotic music and a special message from Pence. Though the church says it will require temperature checks at the entrance and turn away people with temperatures over 100.4 degrees, the church says face masks and social distancing are "strongly encouraged" but not required.

While Texas Hospitals approach ICU capacity, Pence and Abbott proceed with their scheduled plan to celebrate Texas's aggressive steps to reopen.

I guess the purpose of this is to give Fox, OAN, Fox News, RT, etc., some video clips to promote the idea that the surge in hospitalizations is hoax created by Democrats and the mainstream media? Sunday on Fox it will be, "Look at that packed church in Texas! No one is sick. No one is wearing a mask. It is all a hoax."

DALLAS — First Baptist Dallas has been planning its “Celebrate Freedom Sunday” with Vice President Mike Pence as the headliner guest for more than a year.

But with a pandemic raging and coronavirus cases surging across Texas – especially in Dallas – the church faced a question: cancel or move ahead with plans?

Jeffress is an unwavering supporter of the Trump administration. When asked if anything has given him pause over the last four years, he answered, “Not a thing.”

The church took reservations for seats inside the sanctuary to see Pence, but Jeffress said there could be room for people who didn’t make reservations.

After he retired he joined a Methodist church and never set foot in it again. It's always been as narrow minded as you would expect from such a place. Pretty much perfect for Pence's style of shitbaggery.

although my ancestors were members, and family members sent their kids to its school. It has always appeared to me as
bigoted holier-than-thou hypocrites. Waving their Bibles at me like magic wands that would change me to fit their pictures.

Jesus was no more a god than was Hirohito Emperor of Japan or the Pharoahs of Egypt. That Pence would go their for a "freedom" rally is just plain stupid. They didn't lift a finger for the freedom of little kids locked in cages. They disgust me.

but absolutely no changes were made to the number that could gather in a church. I'd say his anger was justified.

May they go down in flames WITH the turd, the supremacists, the women haters, the homophobes, the immigrant haters, in other words THE ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

I would have included the science haters, but that would have been redundant since they are included in the fundigelicals.

The categories of hate are becoming more numerous, as the turd seeks to divide us. If the turd has his way, at some point our objects of hate will reach the absurdity of the Star Trek episode "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" (the black on one side white on the other episode).

Sad. Bigly.
