Record heat possible from California to Florida on Sunday
Source: CNN
By Allison Chinchar,
(CNN)Heat alerts are in effect from California to Alabama as high temperatures will be 10-15 degrees above average on Sunday.
Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tucson will all see high temperatures of at least 110 degrees, and all three are likely to tie or break their daily record high temperatures. In Texas, cities including Dallas, San Antonio, and Lubbock will all exceed 100 degrees.
Cities in the New England are also under a heat advisory including Boston and Providence where a heat index of up to 96 degrees is anticipated.
Heat records possible Sunday and Monday
Other hot locations include Orlando, Montgomery, Alabama, and Columbia, South Carolina, which will at hit a high temperature of at least 95 degrees Sunday. But those locations will not be under a heat advisory because the National Weather Service (NWS) uses different criteria for heat advisories in different parts of the country. If the forecast calls for a heat index of 105 degrees in Dallas or Atlanta, the NWS will issue a heat advisory, but that's not high enough for San Antonio, which needs a heat index of at least 108 degrees or Columbia, South Carolina, which needs at least 110 degrees before heat advisories are issued.

(60,015 posts)we left the humid summer furnace of Raleigh, headed 4 hours west, and are at 2500 feet with lovely summer days and cool mornings - mostly we get to between 82-84, mornings are around 60-62, reasonable humidity, most often a lovely breeze. After 28 years roasting in Raleigh, it is heaven!

(2,244 posts)As much boastfulness there is about record heat, the days of 'below average' temperatures are mostly forgotten, and there's been plenty of that.

(6,931 posts)That's what happens when it's 99 degrees (at my house) and the humidity is damn near 50%. It's better today, mowed the yard and didn't die.

(3,321 posts)global warming is not real, a Chinese hoax, just like the Sars-Cov-2 virus.
Oh wait, the virus was engineered in a Chinese lab per the asshole, um, I mean pos (we are divided currently, not united).
This is all per our current liar in chief.
Just believe the liar, things are much simpler that way.
Hope this shit is done soon. Not sure how much more I can take.
We have multiple crises, we are addressing not one of them.
