Joe Biden builds 5-point lead over Donald Trump in red Texas as some voters sour on handling of virus

AUSTIN — Former Vice President Joe Biden has built a five-point lead over President Donald Trump in Texas as unease over Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic mounts, a new Dallas Morning News/University of Texas at Tyler poll has found.

Biden had 46% support to Trump’s 41%. If the general election were held today, the outcome could depend on the 14% of voters who were undecided or named someone else.

Biden’s lead, which comes after he and Trump were tied 43%-43% in The News and UT-Tyler’s April survey, is significant, if barely: The poll, conducted June 29 through July 7, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.24 percentage points.

17. GRU and KGB (now FSB) are two different agencies

FSB is the Russian civil intelligence agency. This agency has had a LOT of different names; KGB is the most popular one. To translate to the US intel community, FSB would be what you get if you combined the CIA and FBI then gave them NSA's mission to go along with it.

GRU is the Russian military intelligence agency. It's always been called that. In the Good Old Days, the existence of this agency was the USSR's deepest secret. There's an old book written by a Soviet defector that describes the difference between joining the KGB and joining the GRU. In essence, anyone could join the KGB. They had a process for putting you into the best job for you, but if you wanted to be a KGB officer, you could do that. Joining the GRU was a little like joining the Men in Black, except they didn't burn off your fingerprints during inprocessing.

11. Oh there's plenty of us still alive in TX, and we're voting in droves. Look at these early voting

numbers (runoff election) for Williamson County alone:

2016 1,198
2018 6,297
2020 19,926

As you can see, early voting increased 10 times. The GOTV effort is paying off, at least in this county. With this kind of turnout TX may turn BLUE in November.

That will allow Putin more leeway on changing votes and not have the resulting tallies seem so questionable.

If Trump manages to flip Texas, the Republican National Committee will fuck his shit up. They will make sure there’s no pardon, and they’ll provide the federal investigators with enough dirt on him to put him away for a thousand years. Then they’ll help with the civil suits.

And why would they do this, you ask? Very few people are going to fill in the little oval next to Joe Biden then vote GOP the rest of the way down the ballot. There’s a good chance Trump will flip the Senate hard enough to make filibusters impossible, and the state legislatures and governor’s mansions will also be in danger.
