Biden Adjusts ‘Buried’ Middle Class Line

IGOR BOBIC 4:43 PM EDT, TUESDAY OCTOBER 2, 2012

Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday adjusted his campaign stump speech after the Romney campaign seized upon a comment made earlier in the day, in which he said the middle class had been "buried" in the last four years.

"The middle class was buried by the policies that Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney supported," Biden said, at a campaign event in Asheville, North Carolina on Tuesday

It wasn't the word, it was the lack of 'by whom' that the Republicans used muriel_volestrangler Oct 2012 #5

Kick 'em in the ass. Now a line that wouldn't have been on the news is everywhere, and it can serve as a reminder of who the hell it was who buried the middle class in the first place. You lose again, Romney.

When he makes an error it isn't malicious or hateful.

Can Rmoney or Ryan say the same?

Is using the word "buried" to describe "having no life and unable to get out from under living in a given situation" now considered to be a faux-pas?? How about "decimated" or "strangled"? Hey, how about decompressed? I wonder how many of the the neocons have ever watched a dog put into a tiny compartment at a shelter and then have the air sucked out until it dies? It is really a terrible way to have your life ended. But the spic and span euphemism that they use at the shelters to describe death by decompression is called euthanasia. That's it! Perhaps euthanasia is the word that the 1% would rather have us use to describe what they do to us?

Or is their objection that the statement, in and of itself, is just not true? If that is the case, then they really are living in denial.

If I were Joe Biden, I would use the word "buried" over and over again until I make those slimy bastards own it.

Apologies for the source, but this is how they span it to their best advantage:

Mitt Romney, it turns out, couldn't agree more with the first part.

He tweeted: "Agree with @JoeBiden, the middle class has been buried the last 4 years, which is why we need a change in November #CantAfford4More."
...
An RNC official told FoxNews.com: "Joe Biden said what so many Americans are feeling every day. For four years, the middle class has been buried by Obama's failed policies from higher taxes to more debt which is why he has a difficult time explaining why he deserves another term in the White House."

A Romney campaign email also included numerous examples of the middle class being "buried" during Obama's term -- by debt, by high unemployment and by falling incomes.

I'm not surprised they used it - it was a bit of a gift, just referring to the past four years. Biden should either have made it longer to include the Bush years, made it 2 and blamed it on Boehner, Ryan and the Republican House, or left out the years and just talk about Republican policies.
