WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump on Monday said he plans to send law enforcement personnel to some major U.S. cities, as a federal crackdown on anti-racism protests including use of unmarked cars and unidentified officers in camouflage in Portland, Oregon, angers people across the country.

"We're sending law enforcement," Trump told reporters at the White House. "We can't let this happen to the cities."

Trump, a Republican, mentioned New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, Baltimore and Oakland, California, as possible places for sending in federal forces, noting the cities' mayors are "liberal Democrats." Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot frequently blasts Trump on Twitter.

State and local leaders in Oregon, as well as members of Congress, meanwhile, have called for Trump to remove Department of Homeland Security officers from Portland.

I hope that after this cools down and the election is past somebody looks into who these federal forces are. Or tells people who they are. I've been in this country for 62 years and I'm not sure I've heard of these people. They obviously didn't start with Trump. Cheney, are those your fingerprints on this? The judges over there are probably Democratic appointees. The Democrats always get good federal judges here and I'm in Texas. However, we always seem to lose at the 5th Court of Appeals. Many federal cases are filed in San Antonio on behalf of Democrats and Democratic issues. (Most recently a voting rights case regarding mail voting age...The federal judge supported the Democrats, but the 5th and USSC turned it down)

I hope the Oregon case is worded properly and with urgency.

The invasion in Portland is primarily involving CBP officers from the BORTAC (equivalent of SWAT) team. Wikipedia says CBP has 45,000 sworn agents and officers, of which approx. 21,000 are officers. Of those 21,000, Only 220 CBP officers are currently Active on the BORTAC team.

The other federal service being used in the Portland invasion is the US Marshalls Special Operations Group. The US Marshalls has approx. 4,000 sworn deputies, of which only a small portion are SOG trained.

Portland is a city of 650,000, and I’m guessing there are maybe a few dozen federal agents wreaking havoc in this invasion. This quote is attributed to Ken Cuccinelli, a long time GOP operative. I believe he was one of The RWNJ’s pushing the illegal immigrant voting fraud nonsense after Trump lost the popular vote.

They can try to “take this nationwide”, and while they may succeed in terrorizing some communities, with limited resources and growing outcry, it’s bound to fail. The more cities they try to invade, the more Trump’s poll numbers will drop.

Like I said in another post, I’d like to see them try to invade and control the streets of Chicago, or L.A., or Detroit, or Atlanta...

27. An investigative reporter needs to find out who is infiltrating protesters and instigating violence.

The protesters are mostly peaceful, though I remember reading something about a few teenagers who’d had too much to drink doing some damage. I’m suspicious that those doing the real damage are right-wing militia types deliberately trying to cause trouble, as they have in other cities. Or, they’re being paid by police and/or the feds to cause trouble. Another possibility is that it's undercover feds. Shedding light on who is causing the violence and attacks on federal property would help. The other question is why federal property. In most cities, the attacks on buildings have been police offices and businesses. I don’t recall attacks on federal buildings anywhere but in DC where statues are federal property.
