Corporate giants shut down Trump texting program

Source: Politico

A test run of one of Donald Trump's most important voter-contact programs was abruptly shut down over the July 4 weekend, potentially costing the president millions of dollars in donations and raising alarms about whether the initiative will face roadblocks in the run-up to the election.

Trump’s campaign used the weekend to test-drive its text messaging program, a cornerstone of its small-donor outreach and its voter turnout plan. But after sending out over 1 million patriotic-themed messages, the enterprise was taken offline by anti-spam monitors employed by mobile phone giants.

Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, a White House senior adviser who wields vast control over the president's political apparatus, quickly reached out to Verizon and T-Mobile executives to inquire about initiating communication between the campaign and the companies in hopes of fixing the problem.

It took five days to resolve the shutdown, leading Republicans to worry the same thing could happen this fall as the president urges his supporters to vote, when the stakes will be much higher.

When he typed "covfefe", was the virus in the planning stage and they were working on an official name?

I can see evil bastards like Stephen Miller arranging it to be released in Wuhan so we wouldn't get blamed. And then a 4-year old man-child in a suit incessantly parroting that it's a hoax, while it does the most damage to a country he swore to protect.

We shouldn't worry so much about Trump's brain. Instead, we should focus on the ones in charge. Remember: Cheney was unelectable. Dubya seemed like a calm, easygoing guy who could frown on command and seem sincere.

... enough to send money for such a "cause". Republican voter "outreach" was associated with direct mail marketing for decades.

By June 1975 Viguere had come to the attention of New York Magazine, who by then occupied four floors of building in Falls Church, Virginia in suburban Washington, D.C. He had hired 250 nonunion employees (with "Full benefits. Good pay."[5]) to "tend slowly turning computer reels, collate and update some 250 mailing lists carrying approximately 10 million names, handle the paper flow, and, most important, create the letters which inspire householders to mail in all that money."[5] At the time Viguerie told the magazine that 15% of his business was in straight political campaigning for candidates, 30% in ideological efforts (such as opposing gun control), and the rest in "health and welfare" matters (such as the "Help Hospitalized Veterans" campaign).[5]

The article estimated that he would "dispatch some 50 million pieces of mail this year" and stated that "he is a phenomenal fund-raiser for conservative and/or populist causes and candidates. Viguerie is Godfather, Idea Man, And Savior to a gathering band of rightists eager to fund their dreams and vexations. …the people who mail $25 million a year to his clients get riled up over school busing, guns, law and order, pornography, permissive education, and the cause of Governor George C. Wallace of Alabama, whom most of them love."[5] The magazine noted that at that point gearing up for the 1976 Presidential campaign he had "raised $3.5 million by direct mail for Wallace, [and] will hit $12 million by next spring".[5]

They don't just want money now; they want the contact details of those they can fed off for years (and what ways of persuading them to open up their wallets work best). "They" here includes the Trumps, but won't be limited to them; it's a multi-billion dollar business that wants this information, that they need to keep running profitably once they're out of power. Plus every bit of cash helps; many of them will need lawyers in the months ahead.

A lot of that information is at FollowTheMoney and the rest can be marketed the old-fashioned way.

In '75-'76, Wallace was in a wheelchair from the '72 campaign. Not only did these crackpots love him, he got sympathy from the ones still capable of compassion.

I understand what your post means. My post was an excuse to use his words against him.

I had the easy part.

Also you know they have harvested phone numbers that didn't sign up so they get flagged as spam too
and if there isn't any Opt out language in the text included it's considered spam by every carrier in the world.
