Big Ten officially postpones fall sports, including football, with hopes of playing in spring

Source: Omaha World Herald

The Big Ten has postponed all fall sports, including football, with hopes of playing games in the spring.

In its announcement, the Big Ten said it relied on the medical advice and counsel of the Big Ten Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Big Ten Sports Medicine committee.

In a statement, Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren said:

“The mental and physical health and welfare of our student-athletes has been at the center of every decision we have made regarding the ability to proceed forward,” said Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren. “As time progressed and after hours of discussion with our Big Ten Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Big Ten Sports Medicine Committee, it became abundantly clear that there was too much uncertainty regarding potential medical risks to allow our student-athletes to compete this fall.

Everything Trump touches dies

Quite a political science study of America when the next new Presidential polls come out in the Mid-West.

Trump probably considering an Executive Order to force teams to play football

So, what will happen with the spring sports like track and baseball- that use the same university facilities- are they going to be pushed off to the fall 2021? How about if the universities aren't ready yet, COVID 19 is still going strong? What is there are further lockdowns? It would probably be better just to cancel the games and wait until the season is appropriate for the sport in question.

Nebraska is not a powerhouse of the conference and we can easily replace them with another school.

Guy said (I think it was Herbstreet, but not sure) that maybe they'll just play 9 games against Oklahoma!
New conference for both of them. Big 2 Not So Relevant.

Not a big fan of his, but damn good joke.

Honestly, Notre Dame is a better fit to the Big Ten than Nebraska. If N.D. doesn’t want to play this fall and Nebraska pulls this crap, we should invite N.D. into the Big Ten spring games.
