Andrew Yang says he will speak at Democratic convention after expressing surprise at not being asked
Source: CNN
Former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang said Thursday he was added to the Democratic National Convention's list of speakers, after he expressed disappointment earlier this week at not being invited to address the event.
"And it's official - we have been added to the DNC Convention speaker lineup!" Yang wrote on Twitter, thanking his devoted followers known as the "Yang Gang."
He confirmed in a separate tweet that his speech is slated for around 9 p.m. ET next Thursday the fourth and final night of the DNC.
On Tuesday, after the DNC's committee unveiled its speaker line-up filled with leaders and the party's rising stars, Yang tweeted, "I've got to be honest I kind of expected to speak."

Dear DNC: Asian Americans are the fastest increasing group in America, including in multiple swing states, tweeted Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.).
The gross underrepresentation of Asian American speakers in the four days of the DNC Convention is tone deaf and a slap in the face.
Damn right Ted!

(15,325 posts)He brings a mixed base & that only benefits the Dem Coalition to defeat Trump & all the dirty tricks he plans to do to keep himself in the WH.
Every demographic who sees Trump's threat & feels helpless should be given a seat at this big blue table.
That is what the Dem Party platform has always stood for.

CHIEF CRITIC
Some liberals have pushed back on complaints about Kasichs conservative views, arguing that forging a broad, anti-Trump coalition should be held up as a higher priority than ideological purity. I see lots of Dems complaining about Kasich possibly speaking at the Dem Convention to endorse Biden.
This is why Dems lose so often too many voters who care more about purity than victory, tweeted author and journalist Kurt Eichenwald in July. Kasich has a huge # of supporters. If 2% of them vote Biden because of this, Biden wins.
We will need all the votes & support we can get this election.
Everything is on the line come November & we need to cross that 1st big hurdle off the long list before we can even move on to the next.

(15,325 posts)Until this country can make the enormous shift to a viable economy again, there has to be some sort of assist.
We need a full Dem Senate & House to support Pres Biden & we'll get there. Better than before.
Everything is fluid at this point. Lay it all on the table for the day we hold the power to make these necessary changes.
Priority #1 is the Nov election.

(2,343 posts)although I didn't vote for him. I enjoyed listening to him and learned the most from him.
I also loved his 'happy warrior' demeanor. Too many of us take ourselves too seriously, and there just something attractive about someone who doesnt.
Hopefully, President Biden can give him a cabinet spot, particularly something economy-related.
