Kellyanne Conway to leave the White House at the end of the month, citing the need to focus on her family

Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser to President Trump and one of his longest-serving aides, is leaving the White House at the end of the month.

Conway, whose title is counselor to the president, was Trump’s third campaign manager in 2016 and the first woman to successfully manage a presidential campaign to victory. She joined the White House at the start of Trump’s term and has been one of his most visible and vocal defenders.
Conway informed Trump of her decision Sunday night in the Oval Office.

Her husband George T. Conway III, a conservative lawyer and outspoken critic of the president, is also stepping back from his role on the Lincoln Project, an outside group of Republicans devoted to defeating Trump in November. He will also take a hiatus from Twitter, the venue he has often used to attack the president.

If your exit relies on your daughter alleging that you physically abused her.

Once that has been alleged against her, KAC had no choice but to quit the Trump campaign. Every media appearance you made for the campaign, could be overshadowed by you being asked about your family situation. Even worse, you're damaged goods for any other campaign down the line. Even if the daughter recanted, nobody would want to publicly employ you.

My reading of this: I believe the daughter. Given her mother's family background and KAC's seemingly ascerbic ways with the press, KAC has always come across to me as the literal personification of 'Mommy Dearest'.

As for George, I think he has been the absentee father, who probably pulled away from his wife some time ago, but wanted to keep it together 'for the sake of the kid(s)'. I suspect given his status, he left much of his daughter's care and support to KAC, and has never really bonded with her (similar to what I think Barron is going through). I think the daughter would be okay if she had him to fall back on, but she feels abandoned by both parents and so figures why not go for emancipation? I really, really hope they all can come to a happy place at some point in their lives.

I think it's also indicative how much angst this President has caused between family and friends. The Conway's are a microcosm of what's playing out across the country with our own families and personal relationships.
