Biden holds 1-point lead over Trump in new Texas poll
Source: The Hill
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden holds a narrow lead over President Trump in the traditionally red state of Texas following last week's Democratic National Convention, according to a new poll from the left-leaning firm Public Policy Polling.
Forty-eight percent of voters contacted in the state after the convention said they would vote for Biden, while 47 percent said they would back Trump on the presidential ballot, according to the poll, which was released first to the USA Today Network.
The lead is within the poll's 3.6 percentage point margin of error.
Additionally, the survey showed that 7 percent of Texas voters who backed Trump in 2016 now support Biden, while 3 percent of those who came out for 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton now support the president.

(2,227 posts)They lied. That is what they do. They are now turd supporters? ALL turd supporters lie.
They didn't support Hillary in 2016. They are trying to create a false impression that some Hillary voters now support the turd. Bullshit.
I am not buying what they are selling.
Wankers!

(17,390 posts)...Trump will win Texas easy, particularly if Republicans are successful in opposing efforts to extend voting due to COVID. This would force Texans to wait in long lines during a pandemic in major population areas.

(11,520 posts)They're extremely good at suppressing voters in Democratic districts, from voting machine shortages, voting roll purges, last minute moving of polling locations, intimidation...... This is how they win.

(3,256 posts)The real question is how much of the vote we can get out out. Here in El Paso I'm guessing close to 80% Biden and the voters are really motivated this year. If the turnout in the Rio Grand valley,Houston, and San Antonio is heavy there is a chance we could carry Texas. If it happens it probably won't make much difference in the general because I'm pretty sure Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin will go for Biden. It will make a big difference in Texas by shifting the political power structure to more urban areas. In other words the pols will know they can't get away with disregarding the urban population. Abbott dug his own grave with Covid 19 and is trying to reboot himself as someone who actually cares. I don't think it will work and he will be gone in 2022. What we really need is a Democratic governor who can strengthen the party. Things go better when you have a party lead by an elected governor of the whole state.

(10,030 posts)We can start voting October 19. I dont know yet where early voting sites will be, but you can vote wherever there is one rather than having to go to your home precinct. I havent heard anything about Austin having difficulty finding poll workers, but theyre not volunteers here, theyre paid.
Im hoping the displeasure with Abbotts handling of the virus translates into votes for Democrats. MJ Hegar has an uphill battle to defeat Cornyn.
