Kenosha becomes center of nationwide protests after police shoot Black man in front of his children

Source: CNN

Buildings and cars in Kenosha, Wisconsin, were set ablaze Monday night amid protests reignited by the police shooting of 29-year-old Jacob Blake.

Blake, a Black man, was shot multiple times in the back Sunday evening as he tried to enter an SUV through the driver's side door. In the vehicle were his 3-, 5- and 8-year-old children.

Following the shooting, police said officers rendered aid before the injured man was flown to a hospital in Milwaukee. He remained in intensive care late Monday, his attorney said.

Enraged demonstrators poured onto the streets after video of the shooting began circulating on social media, showing an officer grabbing on to the man's tank top. Seven shots are heard, followed by the sustained sound of a car horn. Two Wisconsin police officers have since been placed on administrative leave, and the police union has urged the public to withhold judgment until "all the facts are known."

1. Exactly HOW does burning a car dealership and it's cars help Blake or prosecute the cops?

Like I said to a friend, these riots are going to continue until the weather turns bad this winter.

People are bored, frustrated, and rogue cops like the asshole who shot Blake aren't helping.

some might be agitators with various agendas or want to discredit the peaceful protestors.

After the George Floyd protests and many other similar instances of police brutality over the years, some folks are not seeing much progress on the issue which is both local and nationwide since it happens in cities and towns across America.

I do not know about every dealership that was attacked, but the one I do know of, were BLM supporters, they had posted Black Lives Matter signs and were supporters - it is a shame. I know when you get pissed enough to break shit - you usually break shit in your own house - but damn!!

Watching that video, it was almost like they wanted him to try and get to the vehicle door and open it, he literally walked past them and around, didn't run, walked! Yes they yelled at him to stop, but they easily could have prevented him or made a worthwhile attempt to prevent him from getting to that car door - it was like they wanted him to get there?!?!? and then, really, I have no idea how he is alive - he was filled full of lead, from the video it looked like he got it right in the back of the head but I guess it was the back. And those babies, they were right in the car to witness it - right in front of their innocent eyes

Two quotes come to mind for me almost daily now a days -

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, will make violent revolution inevitable." - JFK

"A Riot is the Voice of the Unheard" - MLK

When will they hear, maybe if they ever start to listen????

I don't know some days I just feel lost -

It’s not as if property damage associated with protest just started yesterday, you know. Focusing on that aspect detracts from the message of systemic racism and the injustice accompanying it. It’s especially infuriating when property gets top billing *to the full exclusion* of any mention of the injustice at the root of the protests.

might do more to prevent future property damage than committing more police brutality on the protesters. We could try it and see

if there’d been progress toward elimination of police brutality in the first place. When people perceive that they are powerless, they will draw attention to their plight by any means available to them.

I can't imagine how angry they are. It's not boredom. It's terrible frustration. Pure, justifiable anger.

Sunday afternoon it happened. We have heard no explanation from the police about why they all had their guns out and why they needed to shoot the guy, point blank in the back 7 times to keep him from getting into his car? WTF?

Burn the whole place down if that what it takes to get this story out.

how many of these protesters and agitators are registered to vote! We as minorities have the power at the ballot box to make a difference. We don't have to stoop to the levels of the KKK by burning and creating chaos! It plays right into Donald Trump's hands when this happens. Martin Luther King and John Lewis talked about peaceful protests. I know there are agitators in these crowds that need to be weeded out and stopped by the peaceful protesters. We, as minorities need to understand that if we use our power and vote in every single election, we can truly change things. Observe the mixture of all races that have joined the BLM crowds. It's not only minorities that feel there's a need for police reform, many whites do as well. If we want police reform as bad as we know it's needed, the only way to get that and to finally get rid of "qualified immunity" is to vote these people out that want to keep it!! Also, we need to start honoring out obligations to be on juries and stop thinking it's a waste of our time.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now...
