New Obama Ad (calling Romney 'Dishonest') features footage from debate, Romney ad..

Source: CNN

(CNN) – President Barack Obama's campaign on Saturday released their second television ad which argues Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was dishonest at Wednesday's debate and in one of his own television ads.

This ad, like one released Thursday - the day after the debate - uses footage from the faceoff between Obama and Romney.

"I'm not in favor of a $5 trillion tax cut," Romney can be seen saying on the debate stage in the spot.

Obama and Romney sparred over that point at the debate, and the campaigns have waged war over it since on the campaign trail and in statements...

Letting a lie go unchallenged can be tantamount to endorsing the lie, in the minds of undecided voters.

Think back on candidates we've had that struggled with unfair attacks - Dukakis & Kerry come to mind - they hesitated to challenge it, and we all paid a price.

Every now and again, I stop to consider what it MUST BE LIKE to be a part of Rmoney's strategy team. They most certainly know what's truthful and what's not. So imagine the craziness of taking twisted truths and made up myths and adroitly channelling them thru Mitt and Ryan's mouths, in the vain hopes they bamboozle enough folks to gain entry to the White House. That's gotta be QUITE a team to be a part of - even if they aren't doing a very good job, which is blatantly evident. Of course, maybe their lines sound pretty good on paper (incredible as that might seem) - or maybe it's just the two rank amateurs that they've got as megaphones!

One other curious observation is that it LOOKS LIKE maybe copious quantities of cash are NOT a guaranteed touchdown for the side that has it to fall back on.

(if one can say that about a group that certainly includes mormons). they just miscalculated and assumed that what the fox viewing audience would swallow could be forced down the throats of the rest of us.
the lying shocks me. i'm old enough to think one's veracity is valuable. that it is indicative of the worth of the man.
from reagan/bush to bush/cheney americans have been subjected to lies but all those lies pale in the shadow of romney's lying.
i never watch fox news and so am not certain of the tone there but i am certain that they indulge their audience with lies.
the romney camp had no real choice but to adopt fox's methodology because romney was not the choice of the republican base. he has to get their votes. so romney has had to fight a two front war. a severely conservative candidate trying to convince the bubba boys that he is their guy and an enlightened moderate attempting to convince swing voters that he is whiter (i meant wealthier, oh sorry wiser) than obama.
neither romney or ryan have any respect for the rabble. they see themselves as much better beings, entitled to demand our suffering for their enrichment. if we want food for our work we're seen as leeches.
why should they care if we are lied to. its not like we matter.

I'm afraid for the majority of people sitting on their couch watching TV, this is not a "grab their attention" type of ad. The soft touch is fine when you have Obama hugging people and kids, but when you are basically calling someone a liar, it needs to be screamed from the roof top. I actually had to watch the ad twice to get its' point. It starts with Romney saying "I'm not in favor of a $5 trillion tax cut," . So I assumed the ad would now show me how he lied. Instead we switch to a Romney ad saying the Prez will raise taxes $4000 on the middle class. An entirely different subject. Yes, the voice over said Romney is dishonest, but if I'm like most tv viewers when political commercials come on, I'm only listening with half my brain, so what I take away from it is Mitt is not in favor of $5 trillion tax cut, and Obama is going to raise our taxes. It's like the debate; for some reason they just don't want to throw the hard punches.

Since we aren't getting any ads for Romney here in Oklahoma ( except once in a while on cable) I didn't know their "facts" were from the study mentioned in the ad.
FWIW, I actually see more Obama ads because they seem to run them on ESPN.

It counters the Debate Lies.

I'm sure most will not agree with me but in my mind, if Obama had talked back to him about each Lie, he would be taking up valuable time with his own truthful answers.

I am the one in a million that believed that Pres. Obama acted like a President and he allowed Rmoney to keep on with the lies without calling him out on each one.

The AD is now doing the talking for him and his speeches to huge audiences now get to see the Real Obama talk about Mitt and Big Bird!

Big Bird is the most effective " Foot In Mouth" statement that Obama dosn't even need in an AD --- everyone on television is talking about BIG BIRD and how stupid of Mitt to say that that is Free positive publicity for Obama.

Those are online ads, and they are a different category altogether. Ads that get shown on broadcast TV are more important. Here's how you can tell right away -- if it's :30 or :60 in length (YouTube adds an extra second of digital slop sometimes) then it's almost certainly for broadcast TV. If it's an odd length like :48, it's an internet ad. Internet ads tend to preach to the converted, more than a broadcast ad.

I agree, the ad is not very good... repeats the negative info (a no-no). Plus, it tries to discuss two different lies, but neither lie is really covered that well. And is vulnerable to the counter-claim that "They have their experts, and we have our experts. Views differ."

A better approach would be to show a Romney split-screen, and let him contradict himself. They could really connect the "liar" theme together with the older "flip-flopper" theme, and having Romney saying the contradictory words onscreen would be highly effective.

"Which Mitt Romney should we believe?" -- that kind of thing would be better.

"Romney's being dishonest here, too...." Then there's a Rmoney quote about O according to an "independent non-partisan study." Right there it appears the quote, which is untrue, IS true b/c it's from the so-called independent study. It's only after the quote that we learn the study wasn't independent at all.

The O team needs to switch this around and first explain that Rmoney used a quote from a study that included D. Cheney on the board, giving the untrue statement last with a big FALSE brought to front.

Sorry folks but this is lame. I had to watch it twice to "get it." The average Joe voter isn't going to be swayed by this stuff. They should have Romney in his own words...saying two different opposing views (flip flops) going into these ads.

Romney needs to be branded as a liar and an arrogant bully. Lots of video showing him saying different things to different audiences is needed. I would like to see an image of something they used against Nixon:

WOULD YOU BUY A USED CARE FROM THIS MAN?

Prove that he can't be trusted to even sell you a used car and you win the election.

Adding the part in the middle stating Obama was going to raise taxes on the middle class was too confusing. Someone just half listening to an ad is going to hear that only. I like the headline from ABC about Gingrich stating you can't debate someone who is dishonest. Highlight that in an ad.

Mano a mano with MBB, POTUS has to be careful not to appear as the angry black man. I understand that.

Ergo, the ads going forth should be calling the lies what they are--lies. No dishonest, no untrue, no "not true." Ad would have been much more potent if it had pasted 'lie' in place of the milder intonation.
