In Pennsylvania, advantage Biden with a big boost from women: POLL

Source: ABC News

Overwhelming support in Philadelphia and its suburbs lift former Vice President Joe Biden to a clear lead in crucial Pennsylvania, with backing from college-educated white people and women -- notably white, moderate and suburban women -- central to his advantage in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll.

President Donald Trump, for his part, is suffering attrition among his 2016 supporters; 8% of them now back Biden instead. While a small slice of the electorate, it’s a potentially important factor in a state Trump won by 44,292 votes out of nearly 6.2 million cast four years ago.

Likely voters support Biden over Trump by 54 to 45%, almost exactly matching a national ABC/Post poll released Sunday. The result includes more than a 2 to 1 Biden lead in the populous Philadelphia suburbs, home to nearly a quarter of likely voters, and close results in northeastern and western Pennsylvania, leaving only the conservative center of the state clearly to Trump.

With the first presidential debate Tuesday night in Cleveland, the poll marks Trump’s challenges in Pennsylvania, also reflected in the crucial Midwest and indeed nationally. Sixty percent of registered voters in Pennsylvania say the economy is hurting, 62% are worried about catching the coronavirus and 54% support protests against police treatment of Black people. Each aids Biden.

the general election, and that should be the major focus

Of course they should inquire her views on precedent, civil rights, roe, the ACA etc

If they neglected that they would not be doing their job

Her religious views should totally disqualify her. I really don't see the victim label. Besides my husband and I have already voted in Michigan as have millions of other Americans. We voted straight Democratic!

In Wayne County there were nothing but Trump signs house after house. In Northampton County it was the same. Very depressing. However, I live in Monroe. There are no signs on anyone's lawn for either candidate. Maybe people around here don't want anyone to know? Hillary just squeeked by here.

One glimmer of hope? I did see a huge sign off Rte. 33 going to Allentown. "200,000 Deaths." "Vote him out of Office". That was it. No names mentioned or organization, but it did get the message across loud and clear.

I am from rural Pa. and I guarantee everyone that rural Pa. will vote for Trump even if he kills someone on 5th Avenue. I think that Biden will take Pa. but we can't get complacent, I believe it will be closer than 9 points. I am voting in Pa. like my vote will be the one that gives Biden the win.

Almost every major recession in recent decades has been caused by a Republican administration. The stock market has increased more under Democratic presidents and only one Republican (Reagan). Job growth has been better under Democrats. The Republican Party has been able to stick its label of “tax and spend” on Democrats for decades when that just isn’t true. The last time we had a balanced budget was under Clinton.

The national debt does up enormously under Republicans because of their tax cuts. The Democrats need to do a better job of messaging about the economy. And Republicans need to be labelled the party of the rich, which is what they are.

Declining populations in (rural) counties Trump carried in 2016. He may get the same percentage in most of the rural counties but there are probably fewer voters in 2020 than there were in 2016.

This has always been the Republican's mirage of carrying the state; they always win more counties in PA than the Democratic party does. What's much less obvious is most of the Republican counties are very sparsely populated. My voting district has as many votes as some of the reported county totals I've seen over the years.
