Florida's death toll surpasses 15K as state reports another 139 deaths linked to COVID-19

ORLANDO, Fla. — Another 139 people in Florida have died from coronavirus-related illness, the Florida Department of Health announced Wednesday.

The daily data shows a sharp increase compared to those reported Tuesday, when 59 deaths were noted by state officials.

Since the pandemic began, Florida’s death toll has climbed to 15,084.

That number includes 14,904 state residents and 180 non-residents.

Florida is dead last among states in tests per 1000 people, and it has a positivity rate over 10 percent.
