Wife of New Jersey officer who died from Covid-19 says Biden called her last night
Source: CNN
The wife of a New Jersey police officer who died from coronavirus said Joe Biden called her late last night and expressed empathy for her loss.
He called me, and he told me about his tragedies in his life, which I had already known about, and basically that no words that he could say would make a difference. He understood that. It was honestly just like talking to a friend, Alice Roberts said in an interview on CNNs New Day.
Roberts and the Democratic presidential nominee spoke for about 20 minutes around 11:30 p.m. ET, she said.
Hes a kind, caring guy, and that to me is a huge piece of what we need right now in the White House, she said.

(127 posts)A empathetic, thoughtful and good man. Biden did not have to make that call, nor did he do it for attention He sees someone needing support and he is there.
Show Love.

(44,130 posts)wearing couple praise tRump. How he's got so many good things done and he cares about us. How we're a bunch of sore losers and how Biden will destroy everything, but God won't let that happen. Also, California Democrats are the worst. I'm a California Democrat stuck in red state hell. 🤪

(823 posts)And Texans love to brag about how much better Texas is than California. They know that for sure because "so many" Californians are moving to Texas to avoid high taxes. Once they get here though they look around and see the shortcomings of a state that favors business above individuals (particularity high property tax and low performing schools) and realize they don't like that and decide to vote like they did in California. Texas may be going purple for many reasons, but Californians moving here and bringing their democratic votes is my favorite.

(412 posts)I live and work in Missouri but have business associates in Texas. They were bragging about not having a state income tax and I should move down there. So I asked them about property taxes. Their property taxes for the same size house as mine were doubled plus they pay tax on labor which Missouri does not. When all added up they were paying a lot more in state/local taxes than I was and I was including state income tax.

(15,290 posts)or the other. If a state brags about not having a personal income tax, you can bet there are a bunch of smaller taxes like sales tax on food and clothing or personal property like cars, etc or fees for this, that and the other thing.
Here in PA we have a flat tax with very few exemptions, but, otoh, retirement income is not subject to the personal income tax which is pretty nice. We do have to pay PIT on investment income, but not income from PA or US Treasury bonds. We have a fairly high sales tax, but not on food or clothes with some odd exceptions. Our gas tax is among the highest in the US, but that goes to road/bridge maintenance, well, what's left after the state police siphon off their budget. We do pay property tax to fund local schools and gov't, but how much that is depends entirely where one lives.

(22,270 posts)Some very fine Congressmen have represented that Congressional District. Lots of Democratic Governors too; not to mention Al Gore (Jr and Sr) and Estes Kefauver.

(7,365 posts)I guess Joe is a "Liberal snowflake", showing compassion and all that pussy shit that prevents us from making America Great Again. How will we ever survive with a President who actually gives one modicum of shit about something other than himself?
