Governor Baker leaves his ballot for president blank, as he did in 2016
Source: The Boston Globe
Governor Charlie Baker said Tuesday that he did not vote for President Donald Trump or Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden when he cast his ballot, leaving the options blank as he did in 2016.
I blanked it, he said during a press conference at the State House, when asked if he had voted for Biden.
The Republican governor has previously said he would not vote for Trump, but did not indicate whether he would vote Democratic for president. He did not support Trump in 2016. Baker has previously indicated he would support Republican Kevin OConnor for Senate and would oppose ranked-choice voting.

There's no way in hell that today's hyper-radicalized, neo-fascist GOP would give Charlie the time of day.
I doubt he'd even make it to the kids' table debates in '23.

(1,295 posts)His brand may sour by 2024. Once he holds no power, there may not be as much RW media invested in burnishing his image.
At least I hope that's the case and that the Q-anon, know nothing, neo-Nazi wing fades back into the background.
If that's the case, an all female Presidential race in 2024, like Kamala vs. Nikki Haley wouldn't shock me.

(1,295 posts)I'm thinking of the movie Network when they ran auditions to look for replacements for Howard Beal and Faye Dunaway said, "full fledged messiahs don't come in bunches".
Trump had a unique reality show/celebrity/megalomaniac persona that inspired his base to a level that Sarah Palin and other far right candidates hadn't been able to in the past. It could be that other wannabe Trumps won't be able to fire them up in the same way.
Prior to 2016, the centrist John McCain/Mitt Romney option was the one that ended up coming out on top of the Rethug primaries. Without Trump as the psychotically charismatic leader and with the perspective of how he has damaged the party, they could revert to that.

Then came the non-partisan part of the ballot. That took some research.
And, who the heck came up with the expression "easy as pie". I've been part of pie-making operations. Trust me, pie is NOT easy. Hats off to bakers who can make it LOOK easy.
