Romney's emotional story remembered very differently by friend of fallen SEAL

Source: MyNorthwest.com - News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM

On the stump in Iowa Tuesday, Mitt Romney revealed that he met former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty at a holiday party some years ago. Doherty is one of four Americans killed during the September 11th attack on the American consulate in Benghazi.

-snip-

According to Ellefsen, Romney introduced himself to Doherty four separate times during the gathering.

"He said it was very comical," Ellefsen said, "Mitt Romney approached him ultimately four times, using this private gathering as a political venture to further his image. He kept introducing himself as Mitt Romney, a political figure. The same introduction, the same opening line. Glen believed it to be very insincere and stale."

-snip-

"He said it was pathetic and comical to have the same person come up to you within only a half hour, have this person reintroduce himself to you, having absolutely no idea whatsoever that he just did this 20 minutes ago, and did not even recognize Glen's face."

This is from someone who was a friend of Glen Doherty's for more than 20 years.

Ellefsen also said it makes him sick that Romney is using his friend this way, making him "part of the soapbox routine for politics in a presidential race."

I must admit, I'm a little disappointed in the veterans contingent these days. HOW ON EARTH they could side with wrongney when it's the OBAMAS - President AND First Lady - who have paid more attention to veterans' issues than any other administration in recent memory - CERTAINLY more than the disgraceful neglect they received from bush/cheney (anybody remember Walter Reed?). Michelle Obama has made it a top personal priority to focus on and help military FAMILIES. You know - those who stay home and try to hold down the fort while their breadwinner is overseas getting shot at?

That so many veterans groups would turn their backs on President Obama - I find incomprehensible - and rather disgusting, if you really wanna know.

Especially since wrongney's stated policies, and all the warmongering "advisors" he's clustered around him on foreign policy, appear designed to create many many MORE veterans, especially broken - and broke - ones.

I DO NOT like ingrates. You should damn well KNOW who is helping you and is on your side, and DAMN WELL APPRECIATE IT!!!!! Regardless who you are or what you've been through.

Makes me wonder if ending up at the "wrong" party was a mistake after all. Sounds like he may have known Doherty was going to be there and was trying to exploit the opportunity.

Romney "recounted how he and Ann mistook a holiday gathering across the street for their neighborhood party." How do you get invited to a specific party given by a specific neighbor and go to another neighbor's house by mistake?? These people tell transparent lies & are so full of contempt for other people they expect you to swallow them. They are pathological.

everything he hears or sees goes through the mittens filter of reality.

First it's cleansed of all potential negativity in regards to the right wing.

Then, he ads his own tidbits to "sex up" the story.

finally, he puts in a massive dose of "what's good for mittens" emotional queues.

In the end, like a grand case of telephone, abet only played by one person, out comes a story that only resembles the original in the fact that they are both spoken in english and sometimes, even that is questionable.

I live in the Greater Boston area and yesterday between 5-6pm I saw a local news show
report this story, but they also said the following: they interviewed the SEAL's parents
and the parents said they did not want their son's name used in a political campaign.
It was stronger than that what the parents said; I was quite surprised to see so many
news outlets then report this story without mentioning what the parents had said.

So obviousily NBC didn't want to call out lying, fabricating Mitt Romney. Mitt made it sound like they had a congenial time together at the pary. The friend basically said Mitt used it as a campaign opportunity and was just glad handing.

...is that he repeats the story multiple times, during separate campaign stops. And he has the same forced hurtful, 'Oh isn't this terrible' look on his face. This is acting. This slain Seal is a prop. He's feigning concern and recanting this story in an effort to "humanize" himself.

It's a compelling story, but he's telling it to further his political aspirations and that is disgusting.

And now we hear that although Romney met Glen Doherty, he had no real connection or conversation with him. He didn't even remember meeting him the four times that Romney introduced himself to him! He's exaggerating their conversation and the connection they made, when Glen Doherty, according to his friend, was revolted by Romney and his serial re-introductions.

Oy VEY, Romney is so plastic and fake. He is a silicon boob.

First - Bishop Willard always has been and always will be a gold plated phony - its how he was raised.

Second - Mormon men learn to cry from an early age as a sign of deep spiritual feeling. If I had a dollar for every grown Mormon man I've seen sobbing his way through his own personal "testimony" I could have retired decades ago. Its an affectation.

I doubt VERY seriously that Romney remembered Glen Doherty. If he did and really knew him, he would have mentioned it shortly after it was announced. Glen Doherty did spend quite a bit of time in Utah and it was well publicized in the local papers. It wouldn't be a big surprise if Jason Chaffetz (UT congressman who goes on the campaign trail with Romney) told him that Doherty spent time in Utah and it would be a great story to capitalize on. It was evident from Glen Doherty's friend that Romney only went from person to person to introduce himself as a political figure to as many people as he could, nothing else.
Mitt Romney makes me SICK
