President Trump Seriously Considering 2024 Run As He Continues False 2020 Claims
Source: NPR
Even as President Trump fluctuates between false claims he really won the 2020 election and that it was stolen from him, he is also seriously considering launching a bid for 2024, two campaign sources and a third source with close ties to Trump's circle tell NPR.
The three sources, who were not authorized to speak to reporters and spoke on condition of anonymity, said a quick move by Trump to position himself for a comeback will have the impact of freezing out Republicans who may be considering a bid of their own and will enable Trump to continue to raise questions about the legitimacy of Joe Biden's presidency once the president-elect takes office in January.
"I think he'd probably like to do it. And so dangling it out there is something that's very real, very real," a campaign official said.
"I think anyone except for Mike Pence in 2024 is really going to be frozen for a while on this stuff," the official said, noting that Vice President Pence was more recognizable than any other potential 2024 contenders for the Republican race.

(10,914 posts)#DiaperDon won't run, it's just a grift for his base. DFT will get another $300M or more, even if he's in prison. His base will happily send their SS checks, and I can't understand why.

(8,200 posts)The formation of a conscience and responsibility for your actions are definitely absent. It appears from what is know of his upbringing that he was never endowed with a sense of basic compassion and led to believe the the ends justify the means. Getting rich at others expense by bilking people is a common trait of this type of person. It is not regarded as a fault of character to cheat someone out of what they are owed, lie and threaten. We should never forget just how he was able to get the nomination. It was won on the diabolical lie that Obama was not a citizen or a Christian and appeal to outright racism. This is the horse he rode in on and the horse that continues fail to hold him accountable.

(6,448 posts)The passing of Rafer Johnson has had me thinking of RFK all morning and the usual "what might have been" that typically follows.
NFL great Rosey Grier grabbed Sirhan and the audiotape clearly has Rosey calmly say, "Rafer, grab the gun".
Just as folks on our side share the "what if" about Bobby, there will also be deplorables who get shivers when Donald and his thwarted destruction of America comes into their twisted minds.

(5,434 posts)No, definitely not.
The only 'serious' thinking Donald is doing is on how to avoid painful fallout from the last 4 years after Jan 20th next year.
Whatever his plans are for Jan 21st, it will take money to carry them out. And to get that, he needs his donors to keep thinking Donald needs their money for 'The Cause'. So Donald has to keep up his pretend fight, his pretend 2024 run.
"The three sources, who were not authorized to speak to reporters and spoke on condition of anonymity"
lol
Sure, pull the other one, it plays Jingle Bells!
The 'three sources' were probably told to spread the word. Trump and his campaign are experts at disseminating propaganda, and false info, after all.
Sucked in NPR! Donald says 'Thank you for playing along!'

(12,599 posts)He'll be 78 & even slower than he is now.
But if he can get just TEN PERCENT of his voters to give him $100; thats 700 MILLION dollars.
There's the real answer

(22,048 posts)After January 20th, he'll be in so much financial and legal peril that he won't have any ability to run in 2024.
Republicans will move on from Trump. They'll find another candidate who is just as evil but a lot smarter than Trump.
I'm thinking of people like Paul Ryan and Tom Cotton, for example.
bucolic_frolic
(43,286 posts)Ryan's low profile is an attempt to sanitize him, he's also far separated from Trump because he retired.
Cotton ... smart, but he does have baggage if anyone will listen.

(10,130 posts)It's not like he's figured out where the rigging took place as his court briefs prove.
It will remain rigged and therefore, he has no chance - according to his own wacko reasoning.
So why bother?
More bullshit to cash in on and cling to some morsel of GOP power.
If he continues the Big Mac lifestyle along with all the stresses of legal actions and defaulting on hundreds of millions in loans, tax evasion, etc, he won't be around in 2024 or in good enough health.
Putin may send him a little powder in the mail.

(4,973 posts)can he run a campaign from there?
bucolic_frolic
(43,286 posts)Of course there is the wreckage he left, and a pandemic and economic fallout that seems at this point insurmountable. Biden-Harris has much to overcome.
The GOP Senate needs to be booted in 2022. It's an overused cliche, but the most important election of our lifetime.

(10,064 posts)Its just one more grift for him. I doubt he will be physically or mentally capable of running in 2024 (I keep hoping for a massive stroke or heat attack). Plus, at least three younger candidates will spend the next four years moving into his territory to try to take over his base. I give Tom Cotton the best opportunity to do that because he is just as soulless and evil as Trump but smarter. Photos of Cotton give me shivers because he has dead eyesnothing there but lust for power. Pompeo has the whole end times, evangelical thing going, but he doesnt seem that bright. I dont know much about Hawley, other than hes another right-wing extremist.

(17,638 posts)I don't think that his health would hold up for another four years of campaigning. I believe that after Jan. 20, Trump is done with elective office. Even if his health held up, I do not think that the Republican Party would be willing to make that mistake twice.
That doesn't mean that he won't continue to campaign for a while. He can still raise money and bask in crowd worship. Eventually, even the party faithful will grow tired of his never ending whine. The Trump people will only be able to sustain their grief for so long.
After a few weeks, we will watch Trump fade into the past, unless we work to keep him in the spotlight.

(1,616 posts)run the same 2020 campaign that Biden won by 6 plus million votes and Trump LOSS. If the GOP is that dumb great.

Besides his age, legal, economic, and health problems will preclude and 2024 run.

(4,037 posts)That means we will have a full four years to reveal how corrupt he and his criminal cabal really is. There can be countless lawsuits, endless negative press, plenty of social media, and hopefully some jail time. And, since he wont have the bully pulpit to regurgitate his lies, deceit and plain old bullshit, we can use that time to our advantage.
The fool may have his Pander or his own network to propagate his vitriol, but the situation is now to our advantage to paint him as the black nightmare that he truly is. By the time four years rolls by, he will be unelectable (again) and revealed again as the lightweight that is Donald Trump.

(7,386 posts)I think the idea that he will run in 2024 will fade. It's a way for him to try and soften the blow of his humiliating defeat.
Once he's holding court Merde-Lago, he won't want to give that up.
He might add "presidential" to the name.
