President Obama touts recovery of auto industry

Source: USA Today

President Obama devoted his Saturday radio address to one of his top election issues, the recovery of the American auto industry.

Tying his remarks to the introduction of the new 2013 car models, Obama said the industry was "flatlining" a few years ago, but is now flourishing thanks to a government-led re-organization of General Motors and Chrysler.

"We bet on American workers and American ingenuity, and three years later, that bet is paying off in a big way," Obama said.

(snip)
"Next time you see one of those brand new 2013 models on TV or on the lot, think about how far we've come together," he said.

Shiny new 2012 Chevrolet. Wish I could have bought a Volt, but I needed a truck, so that's what I got. It's a really good truck too!

Thank you Mr. President for saving GM and turning their philosophy around to build vehicles we want, instead of big heavy junk we don't want.

The auto industry bailout did much more than save the auto-making industry and the automotive parts makers around the country. It also saved dealerships around the country. By and large dealerships have not only
increased sales volume; many dealerships have expanded to new locatiions because used car sales have zoomed!
What's more. used car buyers are picking newer, higher-mileage cars that exhaust much lower carbon production which is contributing to our efforts to reduce global warming. And the bailout continues to show that the the government can create job of all kinds and create economic bonuses for local and state tax income in the process! The bailout is truly a gift that keeps on giving. Next time you're at a stoplight, count the number of new or nearly-new autos that are around you or passing by!!
