McConnell called Hawley out on conference call Hawley wasn't on
Source: CNN
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday held a conference call with the Senate GOP caucus in which he questioned Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley over his plans to object to the Electoral College vote, according to a source directly familiar with the call.
Hawley did not respond to multiple questions from McConnell, including when asked to lay out his plan to object to the Electoral College vote, and was apparently not on the call. Politico was the first to report the news of the call that an official told CNN occurred earlier Thursday.
A second source familiar with the call told CNN that McConnell made it clear to his members on Thursday that he is giving them room to vote their conscience on such objections.

When Hawley did not speak on the call, Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey, a retiring Republican, explained to the conference why he believed that the state was not a good test case for election fraud allegations, according to the second source familiar with the call.

(21,642 posts)In those ads, he assured voters that because his beautiful little boy has a congenital condition he'd "never take away" (Obamacare) pre-existing conditions coverage - while leading the charge as state A.G. to strip said coverage!
As he spoke, they'd show the toddler crawling in SloMo - for maximum psychological impact.
Pure, unrefined evil. No wonder he's already the odds-on favorite to win the GOPee nomination in '24.

(13,532 posts)a loser and McConnell should strip him of whatever committees he is on. Odd how he jumped on the $2000 Covid relief bandwagon all of a sudden after trump wanted it. Why didnt he speak up for this a month or two ago if he thought it was really needed by the citizens of this country.

(3,261 posts)That makes it clear that this is not just a Trump fantasy, the GOP is laying the groundwork for challenging election results on a wide scale in the future. Ferreting out voter suppression is not nearly enough.

No independent investigation, just political cover up!

(11,564 posts)This is just WAY too f'ing bizarre, and not a little bit frightening. The GOP thinks this is a valid tactic and is underpinned by some solid Constitutional law. Just the idea that people with power think this is at all acceptable boggles the mind.
