D.C. attorney general prepares for protests over Electoral College
Source: CBS
District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine is preparing for another round of protests in the nation's capital next week, when supporters of President Trump are expected to travel to Washington to protest Congress' certification of Joe Biden's Electoral College victory in the 2020 presidential election.
"My level of anxiety is high. My preparation is even more intense than that," Racine told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett in this week's episode of "The Takeout" podcast. Racine is worried the far-right, white supremacist group known as the "Proud Boys" will return to the District and "pick fights, create damage, damage property, and then act in a very threatening way" towards historic Black institutions in the city like the group did in mid-December 2020.
"[President Trump] literally really has given breath, fresh air and encouragement to hate groups. Hate is up dramatically since the president came into office," Racine added.

(795 posts)The best way is for the BLM, antifas, et al. to stay at home. Let the Trump thugs mill around seeking a confrontation. This will show them as the useless and impotent neo-fascists they are.

(6,925 posts)Dont these people have a job and work? After the long December holidays they take time off in the middle of the week immediately afterwards? Wasnt the victory celebration to commemorate winning the War on Christmas enough winter vacation? Or are the proud little boys just in-between semesters in college?
Regardless, I hope their employers have agreed to let them be the face of the company. Or the ass.

(6,546 posts)It would be a riot. While it is grand that the JCs have reaffirmed their purpose, don't be so sure that they won't respond if needed to a riot.
That is why all people opposed to Trump need to stay home tucked in bed and enjoying their tiny stimulus checks. It costs money to get bailed out of jail; we need to spend ours on food and chocolate. Just stay home.

(2,739 posts)David Frum had a thread on Twitter yesterday on concerns of former Trump officials and some Pentagon connections he has. They think the success of a move by Trump is not very likely, but that they would not be surprised if something happened.
The B-52 bomber sent from Minot, SD to do flyovers in the Mideast near Iran are "deterrence" as the one-year anniversary of the U.S. assassination is January 3. Other assets are being deployed in the region. Trump ousted Mark Esper around the time it became clear Joe won. He replaced him with loyalists and they are giving very little access to Biden's team.
Gen. Flynn called for martial law, and Trump has referred to the Insurrection Act. Reportedly, he is thinking about the possibility.
From says the concerns are about Iran, the Insurrection Act, and the third i, Insanity in Trump and his cult followers. He's a cornered rat, but a stupid and cowardly one.
Today I read two articles to check the validity of Frum's posts. The Hill and JustSecurity.org had articles about it. They too don't put the risk extremely high but the JustSecurity article (co-authored by Richard Painter) argued for gaming the possibilities out to be prepared for a variety of scenarios in case.

legally, with a permit, in the proper space, with no destruction of property or threat of violence to individuals is fine.
Anything else should be treated like terrorism with the full force and arms of the state used
I don't care the issue, I don't care the person, political violence should be met with exponentially more violence.

(4,973 posts)my mind automatically reads "supporters of fascism". It's funny how they demonize antifa which stand for anti-fascism. Should we start calling them pro-fa? Sounds right to me.
