Prosecutor: No charges against Kenosha cop Rusten Sheskey in Jacob Blake shooting

Source: Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

The Kenosha police officer who shot Jacob Blake in August will not be criminally charged, Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley announced Tuesday.

Neither the officer who fired, Rusten Sheskey, or any others will be charged, Graveley said during a Tuesday news conference. His decision was based on evidence that could not be seen on cellphone video of the incident, which showed Sheskey shooting Blake, 29, as he got into a vehicle with his children inside.

Blake, who was shot in the back, was left paralyzed. The video, which was widely shared on social media, sparked protests, vandalism and arson.

"It’s a narrow task today, it’s a legal and professional task," Graveley said at a Tuesday afternoon news conference.

that those cops had every opportunity to apply lesser force if they're neither articulate nor persuasive enough to talk the guy into compliance. I guess they'd rather murder/maim a guy rather than get a possible bloody nose themselves--he was unarmed, so all he could have done is throw an elbow or a headbutt.

"The Wisconsin Department of Justice had said Blake had a knife in his possession and the weapon was found on the floorboard of his vehicle. Blake himself told authorities he possessed a knife, Graveley said."

At no point did he draw/brandish the knife during his interaction with the officers, though, so shooting him was way out of line.

I'd like to know what other evidence this decision was based on, but I suspect that information will be slow to reach the public, if it ever does.

They will use this as cover to cause mayhem tonight and tomorrow night in DC and then blame it on left wing groups.

but normal people protesting in Kenosha, won't be going to D.C., and then there's the mask thing. Normal people wear masks.

Don’t answer. It’s an outrageous, maddening, and tragic rhetorical question.

Cops can apparently do whatever the hell they want.

This was on video. Everyone knows what happened. Like Nicole Wallace said today, the cop grabbed his shirt from behind, held him, and shot him in the back 7 times with his kids in the back seat of the car. Once he had him by the shirt, there was no need to shoot at all.

This is sickeningly racist, vicious, good old boy shit. Horrible.
