Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund resigns following criticism of force's response to Capitol siege
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund is resigning, effective Jan. 16, a spokeswoman for the Capitol Police said Thursday.
The announcement comes one day after a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol as lawmakers were attempting to certify Joe Biden's presidential win.
{snip}
Sund said the siege "unlike any I have ever experienced in my 30 years in law enforcement here in Washington, D.C. Make no mistake: these mass riots were not First Amendment activities; they were criminal riotous behavior. The actions of the USCP officers were heroic given the situation they faced.'"

(57,600 posts)There's always BLS. ADP was a job loss, so BLS might be down too. I haven't seen any estimates.
Sorry.

(26,137 posts)And, it also doesn't matter that you think he should lose his sick leave. He earned those hours, and has a right to those hours.
He is a disgrace to his uniform for allowing this to happen on his watch, including the death of one of his staff, and, if found complicit, he needs to be charged to the full extent of the law.
But that has nothing to do with HR policies, procedures, and laws, nor earned benefits. We cannot suddenly start taking away labor rights for people we dislike just because we dislike them and they are horrible.

(51,698 posts)A pro-Trump mob overran and desecrated the Capitol. These insurrectionist did so to stop the legislators from being able to perform their solemn duty of counting electoral college votes. The mob was trying to violently overturn the overwhelming (Biden won by 7 million votes) of the American people.
And everyone knew that's what the January 6 rally was all about. The failure to prepare was inexcusable.

Maybe the rules are different for the Capitol Police.
