I want him to resign. I want him out. He has caused enough damage, Murkowski, R-Alaska, said during an interview from her small Capitol office, steps away from the Senate chambers that were invaded by pro-Trump rioters on Wednesday.
I think he should leave. He said hes not going to show up. Hes not going to appear at the at the inauguration. He hasnt been focused on what is going on with COVID. Hes either been golfing or hes been inside the Oval Office fuming and throwing every single person who has been loyal and faithful to him under the bus, starting with the vice president. He doesnt want to stay there. He only wants to stay there for the title. He only wants to stay there for his ego. He needs to get out. He needs to do the good thing, but I dont think hes capable of doing a good thing, she said.
Trump to blame for riot, Murkowski says
Murkowski said that while there may have been many, many, many, many good Americans who came to Washington, D.C., because they felt strongly in support of this president, Trump incited them to storm the Capitol after a speech near the Washington Monument.

The GOP is being smashed to smithereens right before our eyes.
They may not make it. We could see the end of the GOP soon.

(19,970 posts)cut. The old guard are caught in a no win with hard core Trumpers, where they can't afford to lose their support but have to get out of all the lies Even a 10% loss in support would lose a lot of races

If they leave, they are dead on arrival.
Every way I slice it, I get the same outcome.
Looks like a clean outcome to me.
They can break into two parties, but they will not win elections that way.

(19,970 posts)at setting up a new 3rd party and they decided that the scale of creating a party in 50 states just is not feasible. What may happen is that the Trumpers who make up about 20% may just group together to attack ordinary Republicans in primaries, and not bother voting in the November race, if their candidate doesn't win the primary.

(787 posts)The constitution does not require nor does their oath mention loyalty and faithfulness to a person. Donald Trump does not owe them anything even though they have kissed his a** and been loyal and faithful to him rather than to the country and constitution. They were not supposed to be loyal or faithful to him and should not have an expectation of that back.
Even in their exploration of what is wrong with him that is troubling to them, they focus only on terms that are antithetical to what office holders in a democracy should value.

(802 posts)They have voted for all of his crooked and unqualified appointees, whether it be a cabinet member or judge. You had a chance to join Mitt Romney and vote for impeachment but you chose not to even though you knew he was guilty. Two weeks before he is gone, by not help from them, they find the courage to speak out. Sorry, you will be forever associated with the disastrous presidency of Donald Trump!
