Top official at Republican AGs group resigns amid Capitol robocall controversy
Source: NBC
The executive director of the Republican Attorneys General Association has resigned amid backlash over a decision to send out robocalls urging people to march to the U.S. Capitol. Adam Piper stepped down from his post after spending four years with the organization, a national group that represents the top law enforcement officials in their states.
The organization and a fundraising arm, the Rule of Law Defense Fund, came under fire after it was reported by NBC News and other outlets that they paid for robocalls to go out the day before a pro-Trump mob invaded the Capitol last Wednesday. Every decision Adam made on behalf of RLDF was with the best of intentions and with the organizations best interests in mind, Steve Marshall, the board chairman of the Rule of Law Defense Fund, said in a statement.
Piper said serving Republican attorneys general has been the honor of a lifetime and honestly a dream. He did not respond to a request for comment.

(31,893 posts)Yup. Here it is: Unauthorized staffer may have OK'd robocalls urging Capitol protest, Nebraska AG says
By Paul Hammel
LINCOLN Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson said Monday that he had no idea that a national attorneys general group of which he is a member had sent out robocalls urging protesters to descend on the U.S. Capitol last week to "stop the steal."
Peterson, speaking at a press conference called by the governor on an unrelated subject, said it is suspected that a staffer with the Republican Attorneys General Association had authorized the robocalls without permission.
The attorneys generals didn't authorize the calls, he said.
The Republican Attorneys General Association, whose stated mission is to support the election of GOP attorneys general, is investigating.

(2,694 posts)Its important that the top of the list bear the brunt of that accusation or the impact of the charge will lose its historical force and strength. There are lesser charges that can send most of these people up the river for a decade or more. Focus on the big shots. Namely Trump, his children (except Barron and, probably, Tiffany), Rudy Giuliani, abettors like Miller and Pompeo and Meadows, etc.
This fool may stand accused of abetting the riot, but has he really committed a crime? Lets keep him on the constant surveillance list because hes obviously leaning towards insurrection. But has he said or written or communicated anything that might be considered incitement to pillage and murder?
