AOC Accuses GOP Senator Josh Hawley of 'Trying to Wiggle Out of Inciting a Riot'
Source: Newsweek
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed Republican Senator Josh Hawley on Saturday for saying he was merely "representing my constituents" when he voted against the election certification for Joe Biden after deadly riots broke out at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Five people died in the violence.
"Sen. Hawley is trying to wiggle out of inciting a riot that killed 5 by saying 'I was just representing my constituents' - but only those who wish to overturn the election and resurrect the Confederacy," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Saturday.
"Hawley is Senator of Missouri. His constituents are ALL the people of Missouri - which is the same state that JUST elected sister @CoriBush, the first Black woman to ever represent MO in Congress," she added.
"So Hawley really needs to clarify who he considers a constituent & who he doesn't," she wrote.

As an aside on what women face yet in this world:
I take part in on a college sports chat board where even the most successful women coaches are called crazy, bitches, cheaters, or whiners. The misogyny drips from these white male posters. They positively reflect on maybe two female head NCAA basketball coaches only because they have a link to the university they are from. Super Alpha male Luigi "Geno" Auriemma of UCONN is seen as the wise, peerless, faultless god. When, if you know his history, he is kind of a creep especially towards women coaches (Pat Summit especially).

(8,287 posts)Too bad he chose the wrong side to represent. Someone with his education credentials knows better but the GOP probably gave him more money.
I love that AOC can take him down as he deserves it. As a freshman Senator, he needs to be removed from Congress and last week!
Let Missouri and (Texas/Cruz) select a new Senator to represent them. Maybe the seat(s) will flip to our side.

(42,862 posts)... and the "at war" stance that a few are advocating would result in a political stalemate where nothing gets accomplished and the Democrats-in-charge are the ones who get the blame.

(8,756 posts)W, himself, and others with him, started using language that their "constituents" were the people who voted for them. And that those that didn't were some kind of second class alien.
This crept into the Republican lexicon and hasn't changed since then. I think its telling to the core psyche almost all Republicans today.
