Biden tells CNN Trump's impeachment trial 'has to happen'

Source: CNN

President Joe Biden on Monday offered his most extensive comments since taking office on former President Donald Trump's impeachment trial, telling CNN, "I think it has to happen."

Biden made the comment during a brief one-on-one interview with CNN in the halls of the West Wing. He acknowledged the effect it could have on his legislative agenda and Cabinet nominees but said there would be "a worse effect if it didn't happen."

Biden told CNN he believed the outcome would be different if Trump had six months left in his term, but said he doesn't think 17 Republican senators will vote to convict Trump.

"The Senate has changed since I was there, but it hasn't changed that much," Biden said.

More Americans than usual paid deeper attention to the events of Jan 6th and post-Nov election shenanigans in GA, but they are going to be shocked at the video I'm sure Dems will present at trial.

Lots of people thought Nixon would survive until the smoking gun tape came out, then it was over.

I think this impeachment trial will be like that. Once Americans see how dangerous the rioters were, whatever is left of Trump's support will collapse. Only the cultists will be left.

even with reverse psychology and all. It is certainly depressing to think that Trump could do all that along with his patsy followers, and then get away with it. Five people died. It's brutal, but Trump committed a crime.

I'm grateful for the second impeachment effort, but it sounds like they have given up before the trial has started. They certainly owe it to We The People to make a maximum effort to get the job done. Biden made it sound like, "Oh well, if we must we must."

The Republican Party is just evil. All my voting life I practiced civility and analysis in voting for the person that made the most sense. The last four years have taught me that the parts are equal to the whole, and the whole damned lot of them are rotten.

They have Trump to blame for their party's demise. If they let him continue to bully them and threaten them, they deserve to lose. If seventeen of them don't realize how much better off they would be to keep him from ever holding office again, then they are not only rotten, but stupidly rotten.

See, this is why I am having so much trouble even trying to start to reconcile with any Trumpian, Repub, or as they like to now call themselves, Libertarians. I will never vote for any of them ever again. If they want to reconcile with my side, they will vote to convict the rat bastard that wanted to take over the Capitol by force and murder Pence and Pelosi.

They are traitors. What says differently?
