Biden anticipates any American who wants the COVID vaccine can get it "this spring"
Source: CBS
President Joe Biden said Monday he believes it'll be "this spring" when any American who wants a COVID-19 vaccine will be able to get one. This is perhaps the most ambitious target mentioned publicly by his administration thus far.
"I think it'll be this spring. I think we'll be able to do that this spring," Mr. Biden said Monday when a reporter asked him when any American who wants a vaccine should be able to obtain one. "But it's going to be a logistical challenge that exceeds anything we've ever tried in this country. But I think we can do that. I feel confident that by summer we're going to be well on our way to heading toward herd immunity and increasing the access for people who aren't on the first, on the list, all the way going down to children and how we deal with that. But I feel good about where we're going and I think we can get it done."
In recent days, Biden administration officials on calls and in press conferences had declined to set a specific timeline for when the vaccine will be broadly available to the public.

(9,952 posts)But with laser focus I thought Biden could do this and am SO thrilled to hear them say this.
My boys are just sure with my smoker lungs they would kill me if I got covid. I was suppose to get the visits last summer so it is working two years since I have seen my boys.. That is everything wrong. So good for Biden. I believe.

(9,952 posts)do just that for two decades. Wouldn't it be lovely if so easy. BUT.... I am proud to say, I never quit trying to quit. I may have done it this time. I had a long conversation with son last night, him telling me it is time to own that I am a non smoker. That I have done it. I am still too afraid to give me that title.
It is all a very complicated thing quitting, but I think I have.
Thank you

(9,952 posts)I had been hoping for April or so.
I'm way old, but there are many people
who need the vaccine more urgently
than I do.
Besides, I'm hoping a better vaccine will
come along ....

(18,402 posts)At the rate its going where I am right now, itll take years. Unless supply is rapidly increased.
The group were in was supposed to start yesterday (certain essential workers plus over 65), but there are no slots or appointments to be had yet. 650,000 in that category in the city alone, and were still only getting 34,000 doses a week.
I had to go in for a second Shingrix vaccine (yuk) yesterday and was surprised to learn that the lab technician had not yet been vaccinated. She said shed get it in mid-February (this is at a large hospital complex).

(10,019 posts)I know they inherited a mess. The combination of having to first use an online site to snag an appointment to get a shot and then having so few shots available because of vaccine shortages has meant a long wait. Online registrations fill up within minutes, so you have to be lucky just to get online at the right time. And often just getting into the site is a problem because so many people are trying to logon simultaneously early in the morning. It would be so much more efficient if everyone could register with their information and age and then simply be notified when it is their turn. As it is, you just have to take your chances of getting in. I gave up for awhile, but Ill start trying again with the hope of more vaccine supplies.
