Full Headline: Teen speaks out after alerting FBI about father's alleged role in US Capitol siege: 'It's OK to come forward'

A Texas teenager who alerted federal authorities about his father's alleged role in the Jan. 6 siege on the U.S. Capitol says he wants others to know that "it's OK to come forward."

"I want people to know how awful this political strain can be on certain people," Jackson Reffitt, 18, told ABC News' T.J. Holmes in an interview airing Tuesday on "Good Morning America."

"And I feel like I should have to have the voice to tell people that it's OK to come forward," he added. "Your moral compass is going to be absolutely just the right thing."

The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Jackson's father, Guy Reffitt, at their home in Wylie, Texas, northeast of Dallas, on Jan. 15. He is accused of unlawful entry on Capitol grounds and obstruction of justice.

Jackson Reffitt is now in hiding and has cut ties with his family.

Affidavit Of Facts for This Arrest

From it:

"Spouse provided the following information: On January 11, 2021, Son and Daughter stated to Spouse that, during an argument at the house earlier that day, when Spouse was not at home, REFFITT stated to Son and Daughter words to the effect of: “If you turn me in, you’re a traitor and you know what happens to traitors...traitors get shot.”

Son and Daughter were very upset."

Yeah, some of his charges, the obstruction one, come from what he said to his family.

Of sublime revenge. Even so, it took moral courage to stand up and do the right thing, so good on him.

is one brave kid. When I saw his pic I guessed that there might be some other issues between him and his dad, possibly also with his mom. I just hope he stays safe.
