Biden, Democrats prepare to move beyond efforts to woo Republicans

Source: MSN

A week and a half into Joe Biden’s presidency, Democrats are adopting a more muscular approach to dealing with Republicans, essentially declaring they will work with them if they can but are prepared move past them if they must.

Top Senate Democrats are now working on dual tracks, planning to hold a speedy impeachment trial to avoid derailing Biden’s legislative agenda while also laying the groundwork for Biden’s covid relief package to pass shortly afterward.

The moves come after Biden launched his administration without a single Republican in his Cabinet and started by issuing dozens of executive actions, a clip far more rapid than any of his recent predecessors.

Taken together, the moves are energizing Democrats eager for the party to flex its political muscle. But the tougher approach could also jeopardize one of Biden’s chief goals: achieving more bipartisanship in a capital that has been gripped by polarization.

Thank you! The goal needs to help the American people and to fight the spread of COVID-19. If Republicans do not care about their constituents, then so be it.

Schumer knows the deal. He spelled it all out. They will not to deterred. He learned the lessons from the Obama era. Joe and Kamala have a plan and they will not stop until things are better for Americans.

Luckily, Biden is smart and savvy enough to quickly understand that there is no bi-partisanship to be achieved with these back stabbing GOP terrorists. We really do not need yet another olive branch rammed up our backsides.

9. Biden and Schumer learned a lesson from the Obama presidency.

President Obama tried in good faith to work with the Republicans on the financial recovery act and the ACA. After taking advantage of the president's willingness to compromise to significantly reduce the scope of both laws, not a single Repug voted in favor of either act. Obama got zilch from reaching out. Dems were so disgusted they stayed home during the midterms, completely wiping out the majorities held by each house.

Before Obama's election when I'd get calls from the Democratic Party asking for donations, I would ask what they were doing to protect Social Security (I had just enrolled in the program), and they answered, "We can't do anything -- we don't hold the majority." After the election, with a Democratic president and Democratic majorities in both houses, when they called for another donation I'd ask what the Party was going to do with their majorities, the response was, "It's not the right kind of majority." I told them to quit calling.

Biden realizes the GOP has only one goal -- to acquire and hold onto power. Right now they plan to do that by thwarting Biden's goals and reclaiming majorities in both houses. He's not going to let that happen. I was glad to hear Schumer say, "Mitch seems to think he's still majority leader--he's not." I was disappointed, however, that the filibuster was left in place.

She was positively giddy that President Biden has already called her twice since he was inaugurated. She did not seem concerned. Maybe he could bring in a few rethugs that he has old past relationships with.

Their only goal to get back into the White House is mass suffering and death and economic terrorism, with full aid and abet by rightwing propaganda posing as "news." Ignore them and get on with the peoples business.
