Covid-19: Captain Sir Tom Moore dies with coronavirus
Source: BBC
The 100-year-old, who raised almost £33m for the NHS, was taken to Bedford Hospital after requiring help with his breathing on Sunday.
His daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore said he had been treated for pneumonia over the past few weeks and last week tested positive for Covid-19.
The Army veteran won the nation's hearts by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday.

(11,566 posts)and now your final battle is over. We all salute you!
Until today, I hadn't realized how modest the family's original goal was. He exceeded that goal of 1000 pounds by 33,000 times. Incredible.
On his birthday, he received over 150,000 cards.
I bet that, if you could talk with him, he'd say he was well pleased with the end of his life, and had no more goals to achieve.

(9,653 posts)my first thought was wondering how he was doing.
And then I picked up the phone and read the news.
Rest in peace, Captain Sir Tom Moore.
What an inspiration, not just to the UK, but to the entire world. He will be a hero for all time.
I think he was having the time of his life, with all of the positive attention and love that was coming his way.
And he certainly deserved every second of it.
It breaks my heart that covid-19 took him from the world, but most of all, from his family. 💔
