Greene regrets 'words of the past,' without specific apology
Source: Tampa Bay Times
The Georgia Republican has supported calls for violence against Democrats and claims of fake school shootings.
Embattled Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, facing a House vote to strip her of committee assignments, said Thursday that she regrets some words of the past, but she did not specifically apologize for racist and violent rhetoric.
The newly elected Georgia Republican asserted in a House speech that she was a very regular American who posted conspiracy theories from QAnon and others sources before she began campaigning for Congress, but that those views did not represent her.
She said Democrats who are criticizing her dont know her, and that she was a political newcomer when she embraced former President Donald Trump and started delving into theories on the internet. She said she was allowed to believe certain ideas and she blamed the media for her political problems.
These are words of the past and they do not represent me, she said.
Democrats were expected to move forward later Thursday with a vote that was all-but-certain to strip Taylor of her committee assignments. The political dilemma for Republicans underscores the tension that has riven the party over its future since Donald Trump lost the White House.

(43,311 posts)The "words" are out there somewhere, from that past, they don't "represent" her? She is all screwed up. She has to be the active force that represents herself, her beliefs. She doesn't say she 'never' or 'no longer' believes them. There isn't even that here. This is pointing to an outside entity to point the finger away from herself, in my take on it anyway.

(1,307 posts)to conclude this woman is crazy and dangerous -- and that this is who she is
at her core. I don't take these scripted, half-hearted, lip service responses to
be anything close to resembling a repentance.

(38,449 posts)..In this case, Greene will learn there are " consequences" to saying stupid and evil things.
..She was, "allowed to believe" is pure "bullshit" (apologies to bullshit lovers out there)
Remember: Stupid is still stupid, and evil is still evil.

(9,320 posts)Yes she is a hypocrite - all GOPers are - about sex in society, but there's no 'family values' stuff on her site - just boiler plate anti-abortion. She's all about making money and owning guns.
"low class cheating whore" is not language I am comfortable with.
You call her a cheat - how do you know? Leave it out.

Yes, she is sorry. Sorry for herself that she is being called out on it.
But to say she has learnt her lesson, and has suddenly developed a new set of internal values and rules that will from now on turn her into a moral citizen with integrity and honor, is way out there, impossible for her and any other human to achieve.
Take the heat off, and she will go back to her established patterns.
She needs to be put down into a position where she cannot get up from. A position of irrelevance, where no one listens to her.
